“Of course, Boss, she is safe with me.”

“Good, good.” Luca nodded. “Because you see, you guard her as your life because it’s exactly what she is. If anything…anythingat all happens to her, you die. Do you understand that too?”

The guy paled.

“He is joking,” I blurted out. I didn't need that guy to be terrified the whole time.

Luca looked down at me like I’d lost my mind. “I am certainlynotjoking.”

I turned to Dom who shook his head and mouthed ‘Not joking’ to me.

Okay then…

Luca sighed and looked at his watch again. “We better go now. Matteo is not good with people who are late.”

Dom snorted. “Matteo is never good with anything.”

“Just one minute,” Luca said to the guys as he walked inside the room with me.

He pulled me to him until his forehead was against mine. “You’ll stay put, okay?” he asked with anxiety rolling off him.

“Yes, of course.” I rested my hand on his chest, over his heart. “Why are you so worried?”

He pecked my lips. “Because I love you, and because my heart lives in your chest, and I hate leaving you alone in the city with anyone other than me or Dom.”

I wrapped my arms around his waist. “I’ll be fine. I’ll stay put. I’ll get a massage and a facial and everything, and then when you come back, we’re going to lock the door and have fun for a few hours.”

He grinned, and the mischievous glint in his eyes made my lower stomach clench. “I’ll hold you to that.”

“I hope you do.”

Luca let me go and walked to the door. “Sergio will be in front of the door. Just open it and ask if you need anything.”

I nodded. “Okay, I love you.”

His face changed from determined to tender. “I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing you say that.”

“Well, that’s good then because I never intend to stop.”

“I love you too.”

I giggled. “I know.”

“Furbetta,” he muttered before leaving me behind.

Now that he was gone, I didn't have to hide my anxiety anymore. I was worried about him talking to Matteo. I didn’t know much about him, but based on what Dom had told me, he was not a pleasant man.

I just hoped he’d believe Luca and Dom and deal with any further danger looming over him.

I decided to follow Luca’s advice and booked a massage and used the time to call Amy and ask to speak with Jude for a little while.

He was just as happy as I was to come and live in the Estate. It was true what Luca had said; luck was finally coming our way.

I had just made myself a sandwich when Sergio knocked on the door. I looked at the clock; the masseuse was a little early.

I opened the door to find a breathless Savio.

“Where is Sergio?”
