My angel walked in, dressed in a simple flowing floor-length silky cream-colored V-neck dress, the sleeves made of cream lace with red roses on them.
Her hair was up in an intricate hairdo with a few red roses in it. She was just breathtakingly beautiful. I saw a flash from the corner of my eyes, but I couldn’t care less. Nothing short of a nuclear incident could make me avert my eyes from the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
She smiled so brightly at me; her eyes shining with unshed tears, she almost slew me.
I wanted to fall on my knees and thank her once again for saving me, for loving the beast, and making him human once more.
For bringing me back to life when I thought all hopes were lost…for just being her.
She stopped beside me and turned to face me.
Dom removed her hand from his arm and put it on mine.
“Don’t fuck it up,idiota,” he whispered teasingly before going to stand on Cassie’s side.
I brought her hand up and kissed it.
“Cassandra, you are so beautiful.” I knew she could hear the awe in my voice and see it in my face.
She blushed, looking down at our hands. “You are quite dashing too.”
The clerk proceeded with the ceremony and I just repeated my part as a good boy, while being lost in my now wife’s eyes.
Cassie would have to swear allegiance to Matteo just after the ceremony. She will repeat the words of the oath I’d taken almost twenty years ago. She would kiss his ring and she would be induced as my wife.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to say a few words,” I told the clerk.
“Umm, yes, but there are oth—”
“Five minutes,” I ordered.
“Y-yes, of course,” he muttered, realizing it had not been a request.
“Cassandra Montanari, my soul, my life, my heart. From the start it has not been easy. Our love developed in the most unlikely circumstances. You fell for the most unlikely man. You became my everything, Cassie, my love. You make me stronger and you helped me from losing my mind. You’ve made this life beautiful; you gave me a purpose—the one to be the man who deserves you every day…” I brought my hand up, cradling her cheek. “I thank God for you, for your love, and I’ll make sure I'm worthy of it even during the darkest moment.”
She sniffled. “I promised not to cry but I don’t know what more to say except,Lo giuro su Dio e sulla famiglia. Il mio cuore, il mio amore e la mia lealtà sono tuoi. Ora e per sempre. Faccio questo giuramento col sangue, nel silenzio della notte, e sotto la luce delle stelle e lo splendore della luna. Tutti i tuoi segreti saranno miei, tutti i tuoi peccati saranno miei, tutto il tuo dolore sarà mio. Sono tuo completamente.”
I took a sharp intake of breath and looked at Dom over her shoulder. She’d not just given the general loyalty oath. No, here, in the middle of the room and in quite a decent Italian, she had surrendered her life to me, making us one.
Dom smiled and nodded his head in a ‘you’re welcome’ gesture. That, right there, was the most beautiful present they could have given me.
“Cassie, you know what you just—”
She stood on her tiptoes and kissed my lips to stop me. “I swear it on God and the family. My heart, my love, and my loyalty are yours. Now and forever. I'm taking this oath in blood, in the silence of the night, and under the light of the stars and splendor of the moon. All your secrets will be mine, all your sins will be mine, all your pain will be mine. I am yours completely.” She repeated the oath in English. “I know what I promised, Luca, and I surrender to you, in every way.”
That sent a message to my cock as a flash of her on her knees settled in my brain. It was so not the time and place.
I kissed her a bit too deeply for the occasion, but I didn’t care. She was Mrs. Montanari and for the first time in what seemed like forever, I was looking forward to what the future would bring.
Who would have thought it would take a five one fierce redhead to save the beast?
Epilogue
CASSIE
Six months later.
I settled a bit more comfortably on the lounge chair and despite the PSF 50 sunscreen and enormous umbrella giving me shade, I could feel my pale skin heat up.
