Other guys could make her feel tingly, maybe even beautiful. But Levi Spencer could touch her cheek and make her feel as if she were home.
She’d never had that before. Never imagined that was possible—for apersonto be home.
But every time the effect was the same. The second she was with Levi, she was where she needed to be.
She wanted to be important to someone, to be the thing that made them happy above all else.
Levi always made her feel as if she was everything he wanted and needed.
At first, she’d thought a lot of their feelings were wrapped up in their mutual enchantment over Sapphire Falls. She’d actually feared that what they felt for one another was really more about the town and the Christmas season. But those feelings had been just as strong in the airport, her apartment in San Francisco, a hotel room in DC where he’d accompanied her to a work dinner.
And now, in a crowded bar with two hundred people looking on, when she was annoyed with him and tempted by a good-looking farmer, she felt it as sharp and clear as ever.
“I can’t believe you’re here.”
She leaned into his touch. “Surprise.”
He was looking at her with wonder. “I want to strip you down and take you right up against the bar and at the same time I want to hold your hand and take you out to sit on our bench to cuddle.”
Their bench. The bench they’d sat on having cocoa on their first night in Sapphire Falls.
The whole trip had been like a TV Christmas movie. Except for the X-rated parts with the candy canes.
She smiled at the befuddled look on his face.
She knew he was stunned by having such strong desire for a woman he alsolikedand enjoyed talking to and being with even fully clothed.
She knew exactly how he felt.
She wanted to cover him in chocolate syrup and lick him from head to toe at the same time she wanted to curl up next to him on the couch and read her favorite Shel Silverstein poems to him.
Kate had never wanted to let a man so close, but she wanted Levi to know everything about her. And vice versa.
“You’re hogging my date, Spencer. Again.”
The auction had resumed around them but she heard those words loud and clear.
Low, deep voice—check.
Sense of humor shining in gorgeous blue eyes—check.
Sexy grin—check.
Tucker Bennett had it all.
And Kate wanted no one but Levi anyway.
“Back off, Bennett,” Levi said, not even looking at Tucker.
“Seems that Fate has once again brought me and the fair Kate together. Don’t think even you can argue with Destiny,” Tucker said.
Levi didn’t look amused. But when he narrowed his eyes, it was at Kate, not Tucker. “Hey, yeah, you bid on Tucker.”
Kate nodded. “Yes. After Hailey bid an outrageous amount onyou.”
“She was just doing me a favor,” Levi protested.
“Our boy here is seen as a major catch,” Tucker said, clapping Levi on the shoulder.
