“I want to,” I say. “You’ll make me feel good.” It’s true. I trust him to take care of my body. How can I not when he’s proven himself so definitively?
“Condom, top drawer,” he grits out.
Despite the need growing inside me, a tiny niggle of jealousy works its way between my ribs, but I quickly push away the thought of him being with other women in this bed. That doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters now is this moment.
As if he can read my mind, he gives me a grin. It’s that cocky one I’m somehow starting to love. “Since you moved in, I’ve made a habit of keeping a couple in there. Always an optimist, I guess.”
I can’t help but laugh. The lightness infused in his tone after such a heavy conversation makes my heart ache in the best way. Maybe talking to someone about it has helped.
I stretch across the bed and fumble around, then pull out the little square. With hasty fingers, I roll it over his straining erection. He drags me down to him for a kiss, then lets me go so I can reach down and slide the head of him through my slick folds.
I lower myself down on him, hissing at the stretch.
And then he makes me feel good all over again.
CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
TATE
“The VR tours are a hit,” I say. “We’ve sold 25 percent more apartments than projected.”
When Cole doesn’t respond, I look up from the data. He’s turned slightly away from his desk and staring out the window at the skyline. Has he even heard me?
“Cole?”
My brother jerks his head around. “Yes, sorry. Twenty-five percent. That’s great. You stuck to your guns with the VR tours, and it’s paid off.”
I raise my brows. “Is something up? You seem distracted.”
Cole shakes his head, a smile flickering on his lips. “The numbers look great. I’d still like to get the third penthouse sold, but other than that, we’re looking good.” He clears his throat. “Listen, Delilah and I would like you and Violet to come to dinner on Friday.”
I lean back in my chair. “Dinner? This is a first. Normally, you like to keep Delilah all to yourself.”
“Yes, well.” Cole frowns. “Delilah likes Violet.Andyou, for some reason.”
I smirk at that.
“And she’d like to do more things as a couple.”
“Well, well. Who would have ever thought Cole King would turn out to be so domesticated?”
“Who would have ever thought Tate King would be engaged and living with a woman?”
“Except that’s not real.” As soon as I say it, my stomach clenches. It’s a lie, one I wish I could take back.
Cole tilts his head, then braces his forearms on his desk. “There’s nothing fake about what’s going on with you and Violet. You and I both know it. Hell, we all do.”
I pick imaginary lint off my pants and avoid his gaze. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He scoffs. “You’ve never looked innocent a day in your life. Don’t try it now. Are you sleeping with her?”
I narrow my eyes at him. “None of your business.”
He shakes my head. “That tells me everything I need to know. Why hide how you feel? I’m happy for you. Delilah is too.”
I finally allow myself to smile. Because I’m happy too. It’s been two weeks since Violet used her pretty words and finally asked me to fuck her. The connection forming between us isn’t cooling off. It’s just getting more intense. Having her living with me is… incredibly satisfying. Waking up with her body curled up next to mine every morning has filled a hole inside me I didn’t even know was there. On the mornings I wake up before her, I can’t stop myself from stroking my fingers gently over her satin soft skin, tracing the dip of her waist, curving my hand around the swell of her hips until her eyelashes flutter open and her beautiful blue eyes focus on mine. The softness in her expression when she looks at me makes it impossible not to roll her over, spread her legs, and sink into her. Or lick her until she screams. And the mornings when she wakes up thirsty for my cock and takes me into her mouth?
Jesus. I’m getting hard just thinking about her.
