“I’m fine. Just a little shaken up.” He nodded at Ash and me, then walked away to help with whatever the rest of the crew was doing.

“He’s a good friend,” I said.

“He’s a brother, Ember.” I smiled back at him. “I am more worried about you.”

“I’m okay. How did you find me?”

“You sent me a cryptic text.” He pulled up his phone and clicked to where our texts were. I looked down and read what I had sent him, then laughed.

Mi Sol:

FUCKING OTHER BOYS. BYEEEEEE

“Oh my God.” I threw my hand over my mouth, not able to stop laughing, which felt so ironic since next to me there were guys cleaning up a murder. Whatever I thought I had texted him, definitely wasn’t what I actually did, thanks to the alcohol.

“You were drunk, so I was worried and then one of the doormen told me that Ale was acting weird asking questions about us.” I stopped laughing and looked at him, my gaze intense. “We couldn’t find him at the party, and when it’s Saturday, it’s mandatory everyone comes unless they call out. He didn’t, so I knew something was wrong.”

“It was so strange, Ash. I thought everything was okay, but then he started acting odd. I cannot believe you found me right after.”

“I have his car tracked. Everyone at the house. When I lost sight of your phone signal—”

“You have a tracker on my phone?”

“Of course I do, mi amor.” He leaned down, pressing a kiss to my lips. It was weird. He never called me mi amor outside the bedroom. I always kind of assumed it would just stay there. “Safety.”

“Ah, right.” I looked around to where everyone was leaving. “I didn’t think the first time I saw someone get murdered I’d feel so full of . . . nothingness?”

“It’s in your blood, amor.” He looked over at Rain, and they exchanged a glance. “We gotta go.”

“Ash?” I said, feeling so different. Freeing and all-knowing of the truth in front of me. Whatever was happening inside of me must have been pivotal because it was in this moment everything shifted.

“Yeah?” Rain and another guy were walking over to where we were standing, so I had to say it quickly, not wanting them to hear.

“I need you to fuck me.”

Ash let out a low, deep chuckle. “Then let’s get you to your house—”

“No. I mean, like now,” I demanded, biting at my lower lip and watching the desire flash through his eyes.

“Here?” He looked around, and I didn’t know why, but I needed the place I saw my life flash through my eyes to bring me a better memory. Tomorrow would bring a new day, and I didn’t want to remember the night as the one I was supposed to die. No, I wanted to remember it differently.

“Immediately,” I stated as Ash pushed me so I was leaning against the car.

“I still have fresh blood on my hands.” Glancing at his hands, then mine, I realized we had matching crimson streaks marking us.

“It’s okay,” I answered, because the minx in the back of my mind thought how erotic that was. I was burning with desire. Desperate for a taste of his cock . . . “I need to fuck you now.”

Ash looked over at Rain and the other guy next to him, gesturing for them to go. “Finish cleaning up and go.” They nodded and walked back to the car.

He leaned down so his mouth hovered over mine.

“Did you wear that dress out tonight to spite me?” he asked, his voice husky.

“Yep.”

“Did you think it would matter to me what other men saw you in? That I wouldn’t be proud that you were wearing that out? Because I have what they are all looking at?” His mouth wasn’t even on mine, and I was already moaning into his lips.

“Because who do you belong to, Ember?”
