He wraps his arms around me, holding me close, and he kisses my forehead again. “I love you, baby.”

I don’t have the heart to dispute him. “I love you, too, Billy.” With his arms tightly wound around me, I sleep like I’ve never slept before. When I wake up, he’s already left the bed, and I can hear him outside, shuffling about, getting ready for the Paxton boys to arrive. I’m partly disappointed that I didn’t wake up next to him, but I get it, and I’ve got responsibilities, too. After I get up and shower, and do some studying, he comes inside the house.

“Good morning.” He says, walking to me, giving me a kiss on the mouth.

“Good morning. Sorry I slept in.”

“Oh, that’s okay, darlin’. I was up hours ago. Had a lot to finish up before the Paxton boys got here. We’ve got to get that barn up and working since my horse is getting delivered in a couple of days. I just got word.”

My face lights up. “Really? Gosh, you must be so excited!”

He smiles. “I am. I’m just tickled. At this point, I don’t even have to wait until the house is built. Once I’ve broken the new horse, I can get this show on the road.”

“I’m so happy for you, Billy.” I grin. “This is finally working out for you.”

“You bet it is, darlin’. And I have you to thank for it.”

I’m confused. “Why me?”

He kneels next to me. “Well, baby, it seems that you’ve lit a fire under my ass, see. Given me better ideas and vibes than I’ve had in a while. You push me to do things, baby, and it feels good to have input like that.”

“I’m happy to be a part of this, Billy. That’s why I’m here. I wasn’t kidding when I said how much I love it here.”

“It shows, darlin’.” He grins warmly, kissing me again. Then he kisses me again, and I find my fingers tangled in his hair, as he slides his tongue in my mouth, but only semi-chastely, giving me enough of a thrill, but letting me know that this isn’t lighting the fire, this is just keeping me warm. And it’s working. Just enough to keep me going. When he pulls back, he ends with a sweet little kiss. “Good morning.” He repeats, this time with a low voice. “That’s the kiss I wanted to give you when I woke up, but I didn’t have the heart to wake you.”

“You could have woken me up. I would have liked to wake up to a kiss like that.”

“And, see, that’s the problem. I know that I’d end up makin’ love to you had you woken up with me, darlin’.”

My voice is low, husky. “Would that have been so bad?”

“No, as a matter of fact. But I’d like to show you a much nicer time than a quickie, ten-minute fuck for your first time, baby.”

Just his use of the word ‘fuck’ is hot. Normally, I can’t stand it when guys swear, but it’s as sexy as hell on him. “I would have taken what I could get.”

He kisses me once more. “Not good enough. Not even close, darlin’.”

“Okay. You better get outside, or else we’ll end up...doing things.”

He wiggles his brows. “I’m the boss. I can make ‘em wait all I want.”

I chuckle, with a slightly chiding whine. “Come on. You want the stable done fast, so you can receive your new horse properly, right?”

He kisses my lips again. “Man, just what I need...a good influence.”

That gets another chuckle and a kiss. “Go on. I’ll be in here.”

“Fine. But tonight, baby...you’re mine.”

My body tingles with anticipation. And then I get hit with something I don’t expect...

Piper

I’msmackinthemiddle of studying for exams when I hear a knock at the front door. Then Jade’s voice in sort of a singsong saying good morning.

“Hey, good morning. You ready to get started?”
