Running for the stairs, I threw my body against the door, not once slowing my pursuit.

Mate.The beast called to me.

Help, I whimpered back, scrambling up each flight of stairs, something fierce inside of me urging me on. I sniffed every landing, searching for the scent, knowing I was getting closer. My claws slipped and scraped against the floors, finding no traction.

His scent grew stronger still, and I cried with each floor I ascended. My legs burned, having never run like this before. I didn’t slow down when I got to his floor, his scent beckoning me. I threw my body against the release bar of the steps once more and tore down the hallway, running so fast, I nearly missed the door.

Frantically, I attacked the door, scraping and clawing at it, biting chunks of wood and tossing it aside until there was a hole large enough for me to squeeze through.

You have to shift. There is a code, 6397.

I was worked up to the point that I paced back and forth in front of the door before me. On the outside, it looked like the door to a safe or a freezer locker, a number pad next to it.

With what felt like fire flowing through my bloodstream, I forced the shift through will and pure adrenaline. Pain consumed me as I forced my bones to bend and break and rearrange.

Back in human form, my hands shook as my fingers reached for the number pad, typing in 6397. The sounds of pressure releasing and the click of the locks were music to my ears. I pushed the door open, letting it swing most of the way as I peered into the pitch-black room.

I took a few unsettling steps in, knowing he was here but unable to see him. As the smoky, woodsy scent surrounded me, a low growl started to vibrate quietly, coming from every direction while slowly picking up in volume and intensity.

And then his red eyes flashed from the far corner. While my body still wanted to throw itself at the beast, I knew, in that moment, that I had made a mistake.

My eyes adjusted to the darkness just in time to see the beast, teeth bared and ready to claim, launch himself at me. I stumbled back, falling onto a pile of pillows and blankets, just as another black wolf charged through the door and collided with the beast. Kage.

The bloodshed was almost instantaneous, the two males snarling and snapping, savagely tearing at one another.

Still lost in the clutches of the heat, my pheromones no doubt added to their aggression. I had to shift, I had to separate the two, but my body was spent, my muscles seizing with a painful neediness.

Then a grey wolf charged into the room, flying right into the mix. I knew they meant to subdue the beast, but it was a free-for-all bloodbath. Weylin was just as vicious as the other two.

What scars would be left on them this time? What wounds would coat their skin? And Rainor? What wounds would coat his mind? How many more boxes would Kage build to lock himaway? How many more limits would Rain put on himself? I cried out, but it was my heart this time. The beast was tearing my mates apart.

A pulse emanated from within my heart, a dull light flashing through the room. Once. Twice. Three times. Like the beacon of a lighthouse. With each pulse, fire continued to spread through me.

My cry turned into a scream, and I fell back against the pile of pillows, unable to hold myself up any longer. It was too much. All of it was beyond my control. I was ready to ask the beast to end it all. If he was going to kill my mates, he may as well kill me too.

And then a palm touched the side of my thigh. I opened my eyes to see Kage positioned between my legs. My eyes took in his blood-covered body, cataloging every wound on his once-pristine chest. His eyes were dark as he gripped my hips, tugging me down and bringing our pelvises together, lining his cock up.

“We have you, baby.” Weylin brushed the hair from my face, his already-marred body riddled with fresh wounds. I wanted to cry for him. “Shh.” As he pressed kisses along my forehead, I reached up, gripping the hair at the back of his neck, holding him close to me while breathing every bit of his scent deep into my lungs.

Kage thrust deep into me in one fluid movement. I gasped. The need for him to fill me was so intense, but I wasn’t ready to let go. Kage pulled back before thrusting in once more.

“Rainor!” I called out.

“I’m here, angel.” His voice was broken and it shattered me.

Kage pulled back, gripping my hips and bringing me to him as he thrust back in. The feeling was amazing, the pain in my belly lessening only slightly, but my heart was my concern.

I reached out into the darkness. “I need you,” I begged. Weylin continued to kiss along my jaw, peppering my neck, Kagekept a steady rhythm, and Rainor…reached out, placing his hand in mine.

His features came into view and my heart wept. His neck was torn apart, slowly healing, blood dripping down his chest, but despite the depth of his wounds, the beast still tried to fight free.

Black hair spread up from Rainor’s arms like waves in the sea, appearing then receding. He rolled his shoulders back against the tension in his muscles, his eyes flaring and dimming, back and forth. Back and forth. Kage thrusting, in and out, in and out.

“You will not hurt them again.” The voice came from somewhere deep within me, within my heart. I took Rainor’s hand and placed it on my chest, feeling the power pulse from me and into them, all of them, their wounds healing more quickly.

Kage slammed into me, my back arching, my pussy clenching around him. Weylin held my breast in his hand, looking up at me with those mesmerizing eyes as he flicked my nipple with his tongue.

A tremor racked Rainor, the beast trying to force a shift. I let go of his hand, my palm shooting out and grabbing him by the neck. I stared into the eyes of the beast, gazing into the storm within, the ferocity that gripped him so tightly that Rainor could no longer breathe in his own skin. Two souls within a body, completely at odds with one another, each one lost in the fight to take the light that was tearing the other apart.
