“You don’t have to forgive me yet, but you’re not going back to that apartment. You will be coming back with me to the Saints Clubhouse where I can keep you and your baby safe.”

CHAPTER 22

Raker

Ifelt like I could have chewed through a set of nails with how hard I was clenching down on my jaw, but even though Sunni was now safely beside me, I couldn’t stop the goddamn unhinged panic from freezing my veins into fucking ice at the thought of what could have happened if I hadn’t gotten there so fast. If I hadn’t moved so quickly.

“I was wrong to tell you to suck Apostle’s dick,” I said as we sped through Righteous territory. “I made you hate me and I regret it every goddamn day.”

She refused to look at me, and even her angled body was painful as hell, knowing she couldn’t even stand to look at me.

“Raker, I’m carrying another man’s baby,” she said in a tight voice. “Give this up. You don’t mean what you say.”

“Oh yes, I do, Sunni. I don’t care if you’re having triplets with three fucking other men. I want you today and forever. You are mine and you always will be.”

“Take me back to my apartment—” she began to protest, but I couldn’t let her continue in thinking this.

“You’ll be staying where it’s safe. I can’t risk you getting hurt by the Elders again because they’re trying to get to me.”

“I’m literally engaged to someone else!” she snapped, twisting to face me finally.

“And? You aren’t anymore,” I retorted.

My eyes bored into hers, willing her to understand.

“I don’t care that your baby is his. I want you and I’m going to have you. You can take all the time you want. But I am going to show you, Sunni. That you can trust me again.”

“This is too little too late, Raker,” she said, resolutely looking out the window as we sped through the streets.

“That can’t possibly have been a legal wedding,” she added.

I couldn’t help grinning.

“Oh, yes, it was. I made sure of that. Elder’s blessing. You said ‘I do.’ It’s what you wanted, baby girl. And you got it.”

She sat and digested this for a moment, her hands absently rubbing her belly.

Oh god, I craved doing that so much. I wanted my hands all over her body, wanted her with me again so I could wake up with her body pressed into mine, or my cock digging into her back.

“I thank you very much for rescuing me, but it’s over between us. I couldn’t possibly forgive you,” she said firmly.

“It’ll never be over, Sunni. Not as long as I have a breath in my goddamn body.”

“Being married changes nothing,” Sunni insisted through gritted teeth. “You’ll just have to figure out how to live without me.”

“Nope,” I said. “I refuse. Now let’s head up to the apartment and I’ll help you pack a suitcase.”

“How about you let me go by myself?” she snapped.

“And let you try to run away from me, baby girl? No thank you.”

“Raker, there is no way you can be faithful to me!”

“Try me,” I said, whipping the limo down Sunni’s street. “I haven’t fucked a woman since I got out of jail.”

“What a sacrifice,” she sassed at me, and I’m so fucked up by her I find even her disobedience hot as shit.

And when we pulled out outside the apartment, that jackass Leo was there, along with Willow and Elise.
