I take a seat in the chair across from him. “You’ve been following them?”

“We have.” He says, gesturing towards Finn. I try not to let on how I feel about being left out. “We’re not leaving this to chance, and if necessary we’ll be maneuvering things towards who we think is a better fit.”

They’re both looking at me, as if they expect me to disagree with their plans. “You’ll get no complaints from me.”

“Oh, no?” Finn mocks. “You sure you’re not gonna run right out and tell your father, and somehow present a candidate we should back that benefits you more than us?”

So much for clearing the air. “Will you believe me if I say no?”

Holden interrupts our bickering. “We want to believe you, which is why we’re telling you what we’re doing.”

I nod, understanding that this is informative only. They’re not asking for my help, and honestly, I’m not in a position to give it. “I trust your judgement. Let me know if there’s anything you need from me.”

Holden nods and walks to the fridge, returning with a beer for each of us. We sit and drink in silence. It’s nothing like our usual pre-party ritual, but it’s a start.

Chapter 69

Thea

Ipause in the stairwell leading down to the lobby. Vale tower is supposed to be empty. All of its residents should be at the bonfire in the woods, celebrating some stupid Zeta Nu sorority milestone. But the excited chatter echoing through the hallways tells me what the alert I haven’t bothered to look at says. There’s a new campus challenge happening right now.

I can’t go down the steps and risk being seen. My only option is to go up. Up to the lounge area, laundry room or gym to wait it out. I move quickly and quietly, with my hood up and my head down, avoiding the cameras in the stairwell. Those are new. Somebody in this building’s a little paranoid.

I decide the gym will be the easiest place to hide. There’s less of a chance anyone’s up there working out at this time of night. I’ve got one more flight of stairs to go when my phone buzzes. There’s another bout of yelling, this time from the floor I’m heading to, and a rush of footsteps down the stairs. I push through the door onto the floor containing the lounge, keeping my back to the wall as I look for a place to lie low. The door across from me swings open. I’m frozen in place. The surprised look on his face probably matches the look on my own.

“What are you doing here?”

It’s not his words that spur me into action, but the sound of the stairwell door opening behind us. I push him into the lounge, flicking the lights off, so no one can see who’s inside, and lock the door. I’ll just have to wait this out. With him.Dammit. This was supposed to be a quick in and out. I got what I needed, without a problem, and of course my exit is blocked. Adding insult to injury, I run into the head Coxsucker when I’m trying to avoid being seen.

“I asked what you’re doing here?”

I heard him the first time. I didn’t answer because it’s none of his business. I didn’t answer because I’m not stupid enough to tell him anything. I didn’t answer because…fuck him.

“Thea!”

This fucker’s gonna get me caught. I don’t think I just act. I launch myself at him, wrapping my legs around his waist. He catches me easily, eyes narrowing, as I slam my hand against his mouth. I expect him to pull my hand away, but he doesn’t. He turns, walking us towards the couch, and drops down, sitting with my knees straddling his massive thighs. He’s staring at me in confusion as he pushes my hair away from my face.

“Don’t fucking talk.” I hiss.

His eyes turn molten. I feel his cock harden. I push against his chest and say, “I didn’t come here for this.” There are more voices outside the door, so I slam my hand against his mouth again. He kisses my palm, then turns his head, drawing a finger into his mouth.

The buzz under my skin shifts. I came here to wreak havoc, and I never planned to see him or anyone else, but now, using Pax seems like the perfect way to stir up more problems in Vale Tower.

I shove my hands under his shirt, dragging my nails down his chest, trying to draw blood. He mimics my action, his hands moving under my shirt, cupping my breast. Then he’s slidingthe shirt up towards my head. I grab it, pulling it back down. No way in hell I’m taking my eyes off of him. His mouth is soft, his breath warm against my chest. Then he’s sucking on my nipple in slow pulls. If this is happening, I damn sure don’t want softness. Not from him. Fuck him andemotions.

I tug his hair, pulling him off of my tit. He grips my hips and shifts us, turning us so my back is on the couch, and says, “I know that look in your eye. I know what you need. Let me make you feel good.”

He pops the button open on my jeans and I lift up enough to let him take them off of me. His tongue dips into the swell of my belly button before he continues to kiss a path across my hip and onto my inner thigh, sucking and teething the skin there with enough pressure that it’s sure to leave a mark. Asshole. He grunts when I kick him in the stomach, knocking him off of me. I feel a smug sense of satisfaction. I shove him onto his back before climbing onto his face. “If you’re gonna eat my pussy, then you fucking eat it.”

He hums as I grind against his face. His hands dig into my hips, holding me in place. Thankfully, he doesn’t draw things out, quickly sucking my clit into his mouth. I play with my nipples, pulling and pinching them. He alternates between swirling fast licks and deep, hard sucks. My back arches. My clit throbs against his tongue.

I grip his hair with both hands, holding onto the strands like they’re handlebars as I ride his face. He groans, or maybe he’s gasping for air. I don’t really care which it is. Him dying under my pussy is the minimum amount of atonement he can offer for the shit I’ve been through because of him and the men who share his last name.

My chest heaves as I try to get a little more friction. Just. A. Little.More. My entire body tenses, then pleasure careens through my back and down to my toes, making my feet arch. Iclimb off of him, before the last shiver of my orgasm abates, and tug my pants back on, hurrying out the door before he can say a word.

I’m not sure how to explain what happened the other night. One minute I’m sneaking through the halls of Vale Tower, the next I’m riding Pax’s face like a prized steed. I procrastinated this morning, so Pax is already seated when I walk into the classroom. I pick a seat as far away from him as I can get. I’m behind him, so I won’t have to see his face or those pussy eating lips. He turns in his chair to look at me.Whoopsspoke too soon.

He licks his lips, the corner of his mouth tipping up into a half smile. Fucking jerk. If anybody sees him smiling like that, they’ll know what he did. His smile is very obviously an I got laid smile. Actually, I should be the one smiling. I’m the one who got the orgasm. He got blue balls. That thought gives me the jolt of confidence I was lacking when I walked in.
