“We’ve already covered how that isn’t true.”

“It is true, aside from his momentary lapse of judgment. He’s working to rebuild our trust. This is just one more step towards doing that, and like I said, I. Don’t. Care.”

I turn to face him. “You’re serious?” I study his face and can’t find any hint of anger or hurt. “You wouldn’t give a shit if I reverse cow-girled your friend in the gym?”

His brows lift to the brim of his beanie. “Reverse cowgirl?”

“That’s right. Pinned him to the floor and made him my bitch. Although, the guppy is so sensitive and extra. I doubt he’d be into that.”

Finn gives me a seductive smile. “The only thing I’d be mad about is not being there to see it.”

I scoff at that. He grabs a lock of hair and tugs. “Have you forgotten, Pet? I’ve fucked you with Holden, fucked you with Pax and had Deacon on the phone or watching in each of those situations. Both times. Why would you think I’d be upset about this?”

“Oh, let’s see? Maybe because Pax and I hate each other. Or maybe because when we were fooling around, I forced you to accept that I’d be hooking up with Holden and Deacon, too. You and I started first, so you’re the one who had to make adjustments. I know you were hooking up with other people too, but you didn’t throw it in my face. I respect you for that.”

“I’m not-”

I nod, finishing his sentence. “Okay with it. I know. That’s why I’m-”

This time, he cuts me off. “I mean, I’m not hooking up with anyone else. I haven’t hooked up with anyone else since you and I started playing our games, and I’m fine with sharing you.”

I arch a brow, and he quickly amends. “I’m talking about Deacon and my Trium. Anyone else will be gutted on the spot.” The blade of his knife digs into my side.

“Look here, psycho. You don’t get a say in who I hook up with.”

“Yes, I do.”

“No, you don’t. You and I are not together, and if anyone needs gutting, I can do it myself.”

He laughs at me. “What’s so funny?”

“You, Pet.” He pitches his voice higher, mimicking me. “We’re not together. I can gut people myself.”

“And why is that funny?”

“Because we’re totally dating. We kissed and made up. You told me to send you a sexy video, and I don’t send those to anybody I’m not serious about.”

He places a soft kiss against my cheek. Then flips the switch from sweet to psycho. “And I will remove the innards from any guy who touches you without my permission. The only people who have permission are Holden, Pax, and Deacon.”

“Okay, time out. Austin and Connor are my friends, and their insides better remaininside. And you can’t give me permission to fuck anyone. It’s my choice. And if I were choosing fuck buddies, Pax wouldn’t be on the list. He doesn’t want me like that. You’ve seen how he’s reacted enough times to know this.”

He bypasses everything else I’ve said and asks, “Do you want him like that?”

“No.” I scoff. “Of course not!”

“If you did-”

“I don’t.”

“I know. But if you did, Holden and I are okay with it.”

This dude is hung up on the wrong part of this entire conversation, and we’re going around in circles. “Fine. Okay. Whatever. You’d be fine with a hypothetical situation with Pax that’s never gonna happen.” I point between the two of us. “Now be fine with our actual situation, and hear me when I say, Finn… You and I arenotdating.”

He licks the side of my face. “We’ll see about that.”

Moira and Scott went through a lot of trouble to hide me away, and the longer I’m in town, the more I come to appreciate the fact that I didn’t grow up here.

Not the part where I grew up alone. I got used to it, but it fucking sucked at times. The thing I’m grateful for is that I had choices about my future and how I wanted to live my life.
