“Eating at the legacy table doesn’t earn you toe curling kisses from The Trium. Trust me, I know, because I’ve been listening for years at the future first wives weeping and wailing about how much they wish it did.”

“I hooked up with Finn, before. You know this.”

“Right, but that was before your attack, and you hadn’t hooked up with Holden. So what happened over Christmas with him, and does it have anything to do with you threatening to cut off that girl’s tits at the Lady Lion’s back to school party?”

Damn, I can’t explain the blow job without explaining how we got to that point. I roll onto my side to face her. “Okay, don’t be mad, but there’s a lot that’s been going on.Wasgoing on. I was gonna tell you, but truthfully, I’m still trying to process it all.”

“I can’t promise not to get mad, if there’s something to be mad about. But I’ll try to hold off on expressing my anger until the end.”

Good enough. “So first, The Trium are still on the top of my revenge list, and I have new evidence about that night.”

“Then why-” I arch a brow when she interrupts. She stops and zips her lips.

“I was executing these little revenge missions on The Trium since coming back after my attack.” I chuckle, remembering the knives. “They were amazing too. They think they know it’s me, but they can’t prove it.”

“What kind of missions?”

“I broke into Holden’s room and messed with his computer equipment, and broke into Finn’s room, and turned one of his fancy expensive knives into a golden paperweight.”

She giggles. “And Pax? Lemme guess. You hid his favorite weights at the gym.”

“Better. I stole his motorcycle. Three times.”

Her laughter dies on her lips. “You what? That was you?”

“Yup.”

“You know, he thinks it’s Austin, right?”

“Pax is an idiot, and lets his misogyny blind him to how much of a formidable foe I am. He’s going to cry like a baby once I kick his ass in the ring.”

“You challenged him to a fight?”

“Always. He refuses to say yes, but he comes down to the dorm gym when I’m training and I piss him off so bad he loses his cool and winds up sparring with me.”

She frowns at me. “You’re sparring with Pax? He uh… He’s huge, Thea. Aren’t you afraid of getting hurt?”

“I was in the beginning. You know, right after my attack? But not anymore. Fighting him has helped me get over my fear. Better than therapy, right?”

“All of your fear?”

“A lot of it. Or at least the block I had about fighting, and that’s the part that bothered me the most.”

I still haven’t told her I’m afraid of being exposed and alone in dark spaces, or that I need sleeping pills to sleep at night. It won’t be forever. I just need it now, and LJ thinks I’m so brave. I don’t want her to look at me differently.

“So how did you go from fighting back to sucking face?”

“Finn’s been trying to apologize. You saw him, right? Always with the sad eyes and ‘sorry, Pet?’”

“I did.”

“Well, I guess Holden’s been trying to apologize too, in a weird psychotic way.” Okay, here I go. “He was there that night. Mayhem Night. He saw me, and he, um, he chased me through the woods.”

She gasps. “This is the evidence you were talking about?”

I nod. “Part of it. He insists he had nothing to do with my attack, but I guess he feels guilty for not catching me, because if he would have, then…” I let the rest hang in the air.

“The kiss was an apology?”
