Sasha and I made a pact that we’d never let dick come between us. We don’t date each other’s exes or crushes, or previous hookups. Don’t guys usually have the same kind of agreement?

Gah! Why did they both come to the library today? I need to finish this extra credit assignment, so my GPA doesn’t take a hit from all the time I missed.

I look over at Finn and Holden’s table again. Their seats are empty. Instinctively, I know they’re heading my way. They reach me before I decide if I’m leaving or not. Finn takes the seat across from me. Holden sits on my right.

My mouth pops open to protest their intrusion, but when Holden grips the back of my neck and digs his thumb into the knot, that’s become a permanent fixture there, I can’t get words out.

“Are you hiding from us, Thea?”

“Hmm?” Is the only response I can manage. I’m fighting to keep from closing my eyes or purring or some other stupid shit.

“Or did you pick this area, because it’s secluded, and nobody will see you riding our fingers?”

I’m melting into a puddle of goo on the table. “I picked it because it’s quiet up here and this section has the books I need.”

Finn asks, “Are the books all you need? You seem kinda tense. We can help with that.”

“I am tense.”

Finn scoots his chair over to my side. “Then spread your legs and let us help. Unless you’re scared?”

“Of getting fingered in a library?” I snicker. “I’ve had my clit played with in more exposed places than this.”

“Really? Where?”

“The most public place was a packed city bus.”

“Did he make you cum on that bus?”

“As a matter of fact, he did.”

“With all those people listening?”

“Nobody heard anything. You don’t have a lot of privacy in a group home, so I learned to keep quiet when getting myself off.” I tap my temple. “All the sexy thoughts and sounds play out inside my head.”

Holden whispers in my ear. “That’s a shame. You begging is one of the sexiest things I’ve ever heard. I’m hooked on the sounds you make when you’re choking me down.”

“Time to bring back those skills, Pet. We don’t want anyone else hearing you fall apart for us.”

My phone buzzes on the table. This is it. I pack my things and push away from the table. “I gotta go.”

Holden places his hand on mine. “Go. We’ll make sure your things get back to the dorm.”

Ianswer my phone as I pull last week’s ranking off the wall and replace it with a new one. “Where you been hiding, LaReaux?”

“I wish I knew.”

“Don’t tell me you were off on a week long bender. You know how I feel about unsafe practices.”

“Relax, coach, I wasn’t somewhere getting drunk. I just happened to spend a good portion of my week blindfolded and getting carted from one place to the next.”

The League loves their secrets. But the blindfolds are unnecessary. It’s just a ploy they use, along with sleep deprivation, to disorient the selectees during the initial screening process.

“You okay?” I don’t ask any of the questions I want to ask, because I know she can’t answer. Pledging puts an uncrossable divide between us as far as what we can talk about.
