Hit sits back down with a shrug. “Fuck that bitch. You’re right, I’m not losing any sleep over her.”

I lunge for him again. This time he gets to his feet and body checks me. I crash into the wall with a thud. We wrestle back and forth, getting an equal amount of blows in. I’m faintly aware of the door slamming and then Holden’s in the mix, pulling us apart.

“Is this about the girl from last night?” Holden asks, a frown marring his face.

Pax walks over to the fridge and grabs a drink. “That’s the same thing I asked.”

“Well?” Holden stares me down, waiting for my reply.

My chest heaves, my hands itch. I can hardly see through the haze of red, let alone answer the question.

“He says it’s about Thea.”

Holden dips his head to look me in the eye. Ready to dig into my psyche. “What about her?”

“Ask Pax, what about her.”

Pax comes back into the living room. “Finn, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about, but I’ll be straight with you. Whatever it is, I. Don’t. Care. She’s our enemy. We’ll do what The League wants, pretend to guide her to joining.” He chuckles, “Because karma’s a bitch, and I want a front-row seat when The League finds out what she’s really up to.”

I cock my head to the side. “Right, and maybe you helped karma along by introducing her to a wall, or someone’s fists?”

They both look at me like I’m crazy. Pax asks, “What the fuck are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about the ambulance that pulled out of here ten minutes ago.”

The smile on his face slips. “Somebody got hurt last night on campus?”

Holden nods. “I heard about it as I was coming back from the library. Zeus got hurt trying to pull off a prank in the training room. Students are saying a weight fell on his junk.”

Fuck Zeus and his swollen penis. I want Pax to tell me what he did to my pet. “Thea was in a second ambulance.”

Holden looks from me to Pax, then me again, as he digs out his phone. “You sure?”

“I was there when they loaded her gurney onto the second ambulance.”

Pax leans forward in his chair as if he’s expecting me to come at him again. I might. “Why are you looking at me like I know something about that?”

“Because Eloise was there, and she says I owe her for handling our problem.” I’m getting angry all over again. My hand instinctively curls around my blade.

Pax eyes my hand and frowns. “Calm down Finn, and just tell us what happened.”

“I told you. Eloise said our problem’s been taken care of, and seconds later, they paraded Thea’s body in front of me on the way to a second ambulance.”

“And you think Eloise had something to do with it?”

“I’m sure she did.”

He’s still watching my hand. Smart, because if he takes his eyes off of it, he won’t have time to defend himself against my attack. “And what does any of that have to do with me?”

“Who told her Thea was a problem, and to get rid of her by any means necessary? Because it sure as shit wasn’t me.”

He doesn’t even blink. “I told her to send a message that she’s no one. So she’d stop walking around with her nose in the air. I told her to show Thea who runs this school. It’s the same speech we’ve given to the legacies countless times before. We’ve always let the Zeta Nus handle the women.”

“Right, but Thea fought back, didn’t she? I’m sure that would’ve prompted a second conversation. Kinda like the one we had where you said, ‘Let’s get creative’”.

He juts his chin out. “You’re right. I did. So what?”

“So, you basically gave Eloise a blank check, and she cashed that fucker in.”
