How do you celebrate your best friend’s return? By letting her drag you to a party. She’s gotten more comfortable hanging out, thanks to her friendship with Austin and Connor. I call them her practice dudes, because she’s able to laugh and talk to them without breaking into a sweat, which often leads to her talking to other members of the football team.

She’d probably pass out if left on her own, but this is a huge improvement over where she started. I love to see her coming out of her shell.

I sip my bottled water and smile as Austin and Connor argue back and forth about a football game they watched last weekend. I’ve learned my lesson about drinking at these events, and won’t be straying away from my core group.

Holden, and Pax are on opposite sides of the room, Finn is leaning against the wall in front of me, watching the crowd. A song comes on, and Austin drags me onto the dance floor. He doesn’t have to try too hard. I love to dance and we always have a good time in our little group. He spins and twirls LJ until she’s transferred to Connor’s outstretched arms, then it’s my turn.

We dance until my shirt clings to my skin. I let them know I need a break and head to the bathroom to pee and splash water on my face. When I come out, Finn’s leaning against the wall, with some girl I’ve seen hanging with the baseball team in his face.

I scowl at her, as she drags her hand through his hair. Finn’s eyes widen, and I shake my head to clear the irrational urge to pull her away from him. This is Finn. He loves attention. It’s none of my business what he does. I don’t care what he does.

“Come on Finn, let me show you a good time, since Eloise can’t.”

I make it two steps and freeze, waiting to hear his response. Why is the thought of him hooking up with her bothering me? It shouldn’t.It doesn’t.I have Wolfe. Finn can have whoever he wants. He’s allowed to change his mind about wanting me.

“I’ll suck you so good, you won’t be thinking about anyone else ever again.”

I’m back over to them before I can think about what I’m doing. I politely tap her on the shoulder. She shrugs me off, and I tap again. I’m gonna be diplomatic about this. No fighting. Use my words. All the stuff that would make Wolfe call me his good girl.

In my nicest, firmest, non-confrontational voice I say, “Please remove your hands from Finn’s dick.”

She ignores me and sinks to her knees. Finn’s mouth twitches. Is he laughing at me or her? He thinks this is funny, and probably laughing at me since he gets off on drama. Fine, he wants her sucking him off, now I wanna put a stop to it, because now I’m just annoyed that she’s ignoring me.

She looks at me over her shoulder. “What do you want, Zeta Nu Dropout?”

“I want you to get up off your knees and find another dick to play with.”

“I want this one. I hear it’s amazing.”

When she goes to turn back to Finn. He barks out a laugh when I yank her ponytail, jerking her away from him. “You don’t need first hand knowledge about that. I can tell you it is, and it’s off limits. Now get the fuck up and go play in someone else’s pants.”

“I suggest you do what she says. Thea’s already claimed my cock, and it doesn’t look like she’s in the mood to share it.”

He gives her an encouraging smile. “Don’t look so glum, there are plenty of other people who would love to take your mouth. I hear it’s quite an experience.”

She straightens, and flips her hair, bolstered by his words. “Yes, it is. And when you’re done with her, maybe I’ll still be interested in letting you take it for a ride.”

He shrugs, and I poke him in the side. “Ow. What was that for, Pet?”

“I didn’t run her off, so you could leave the door open for her return.”

“And why did you run her off? Did you think I couldn’t handle her on my own, or worried I was gonna give in?”

“Neither. It looked like you were about to have fun and I live to stomp all over it.”

He fists my shirt dragging me closer. “Do I get to do the same with you?”

My heart rate ticks up. Finn and I used to have fun, picking on each other. I’m sure he suspects I messed with his knives but he hasn’t retaliated yet. Why hasn’t he? Come to think of it, none of them have done anything to me at all. Is that why I interrupted him? Because I need the attention? I certainly feel more alive than I did before I walked up on him. I’m getting better every day, but something is missing. This push and pull with Finn might be it.

“You’re welcome to try, but we both know I play these games better than you.”

I bite his bottom lip, then ditch his hold, and head back to my friends.
