“Don’t try to be cute.”
“I’m not trying. Iamcute. Sexy. A god among men.”
“I told you at lunch yesterday that things aren’t fixed, that I needed space, and it would take time to work on forgiving you. And your move was to just disregard all that and let yourself into my room and crawl into bed with me?”
“After that little display on the balcony the other night, did you really expect me to stay away? You all but screamed, Finn, come play with me.”
“What I did had nothing to do with you and it wasn’t some mating call.”
I press closer, letting her feel my morning wood. “Yes, Pet. It was.” She presses her ass against me, despite her attempts to pretend she’s unaffected by our proximity.
“Finn, if you don’t stop humping me like a dog in heat, you won’t be able to use that thing in your pants on anyone.”
You’d think she’d know by now that her threats have the opposite effect of what she’s intended. I grind harder, gripping her hip to hold her against me. “You can cut me, make me bleed, and it will only make me want you more.”
I suck on the skin on the back of her neck, but not hard enough to leave a mark. “Now the only reason I’m not going to bypass this waiting game and speed up the timeline of our reunion is because I want you to want me just as badly as I want you.”
“You can’t speed it up. It’ll take as long as it takes.”
I chuckle. If only she knew. “I can. I’ve done it plenty of times to others. It’s a testament to how special I think you are that I want you to choose it. That I’m giving you the option to choose it in your own time, instead of hacking your brain.”
I’m keyed up and close to spilling. With a shuddering breath, I stop moving against her. I hate that I’m going back to my room sexually frustrated, but I think my point is clear. With one final nuzzle of her ear, I say, “I’ll wait for you, Thea. God, it’s gonna be so damn hard to do it, but I will.”
I climb out of bed and stroke my dick. She turns around to face me, eyes snagging on the movement of my hand before drifting up to my face. “Get really friendly with that hand, Number Three. You’ll be waiting a long time.”
I release my shaft and wink before turning towards the door. “Maybe, but I know it’s worth it.”
I’m in a great mood. Waking up with the girl you’re crazy about will do that to you. Who knew? I’ve got excess energy, so I briefly consider taking Pax up on his offer to join him for a workout.
“Nah. I’m good. I think I should burn this energy off at the parkour course.”
I haven’t been out there in weeks. Not since Thea got hurt. I haven’t felt interested in having fun, knowing she wasn’t having fun. But things are turning around for us.
“Why are you so damn peppy this morning? You know you shouldn’t be drinking those energy drinks if you’re gonna go push yourself on the course.”
“I haven’t had an energy drink. I actually just got out of bed.” I smile even harder. Thea’s bed. Maybe I should have finished rubbing one out, but I want to wait until later, when I have time to think about it and really draw it out.
“I get it. Eloise isn’t here, so you’re sampling again.” He chuckles. “I’m surprised you’ve held out this long.”
“I haven’t fucked anybody since Thea.”
“Okay, so you let them suck your dick. Same difference.”
“Nope. The only mouth I’ve had is Thea’s, and I’m not interested in hooking up with anyone else.” He laughs at my confession. “What’s so funny?”
“You. You almost had me, man. We both know how much you like variety. It’s why Eloise walks around with her face cracked. Because no matter how much she tells you to keep it in your pants, you won’t. Sometimes I think you do it just to be spiteful.”
“Sometimes I do. But this isn’t a joke, Pax. I want Thea. I only want Thea.”
“Yeah, now while you can’t have her. The minute she gives in, you’ll be on to the next one.”
He’s not getting it. So I spell it out for him, as clearly as I can. “There is no next one. Thea’s it for me. And before you say it, yes, I know I’m promised to marry Eloise, but that won’t change anything about how I feel. That girl’s perfect. Perfect for me.”
I bite back what else I want to say, knowing he’s not ready to hear it yet. It’s always been something we talked about in passing. About how we’d find the perfect woman and have to share her, because that’s the only way we’d be able to fully focus on our goals.
One woman to rotate between us. It’s always been an option for The Triums, but none of them could ever agree on a woman. Our dads couldn’t. Pax’s father has widely different views on how women should be treated. It’s a wonder he even created an heir. Ultimately, the women they marry enter this place where they’re pitted against each other. And that pulls The Triums apart. We plan to be different, to do things differently than any other Trium. It’s all we think about. All we talk about.
I guess it’s why we even started sharing women to begin with. First, to see if it would even work between us, and then it became the only way we could get someone to give Holden a chance. The dream; it could be a reality. We could make it happen.
