“There you boys are.” He says with a genuine smile on his face. I allow him to pull me into a hug and wait while he shakes Finn and Holden’s hand. “What do you think of all this?”

“I imagined The League was too busy running the world to throw parties.” I say sarcastically.

“The world running is still going on. Within this room, at this very minute. Sometimes people are more agreeable to terms when they’re in a friendlier environment.” He levels me with a look. “Which is why I came over here. You three should not be hiding in the corner. This party is your first introduction to our social setting. Even though kickoff night is usually reserved for second-year prospects and above, we’ve decided to bend the rules a little this year.”

That explains it. They’ve pulled back the curtain for first year prospects to get a view. To get us excited about the future, and I would be, if I would’ve been more prepared.

“Mingle,” Kristoff says. “Have fun. There are all sorts of things around the building. Something is sure to catch your attention.”

Everything is telling me this is a bad idea. One thing my dad has always taught me is never to go into anything blindly, and this is the definition of it. “We weren’t sure if we should.”

“Of course you should. You wouldn’t be here otherwise.” He clasps me on my shoulder and steers me across the floor. “In fact, there’s someone who’s dying to meet you.”

We have no choice but to go with him, through a side door and into a room occupied by a woman I highly doubt has been waiting around to meet us. Is she expecting someone? Undoubtedly, but I don’t think it’s anyone in particular. She has a job to do and will do it with anyone.

She gets to her feet walking over to Kristoff, a hungry look on her face. He swats her ass and says, “Show these boys a good time. They’re our future.”

As he’s walking out, two more women enter the room, closing the door behind them. I share a look with Finn and Holden. We know we’re not getting out of this room without being serviced by one of these women.

This is it, the start of it all. I look over in the corner and see it. The small camera that’s probably in every room in this club. We’re here for one reason and one reason only. To prove our desire to join The League of the Daggered Ravens. Tonight will be the first of many nights they’ll use to obtain leverage over current and future members.

My gaze slides to Holden. Finn and I can do this with no problem. Holden’s the one who’s gonna have to suffer through being unsatisfied. Finn’s already pulling his jacket off and unbuttoning his pants.

“What do you like, boys?”

Never one to drag things out, Holden barks, “We’d like you to shut the fuck up and get on your knees.”

They comply, eager to please. Finn doesn’t waste time. He spits on his hand, rubbing it over the latex he’s already rolled on, then moves to position himself behind one of the women and plunges into her cunt.

There’s no way she’s wet and and he doesn’t give a shit if she nuts or not. He’s known to be selfish like that. We all are. Holden sits down on the couch and motions for the one closest to him to work her throat.

He watches as she frees him from his pants and waits until she’s got him hard, before closing his eyes. To anyone watching, I’m sure it looks like he’s letting himself go, enjoying the moment. But I know better. He’s fixating. Concentrating on staying in control. Locking his urges down. Since we were blindsided about tonight’s events, this would be the worst time to let his demons out to play.

I hear the scrape of metal and turn my attention back to Finn. He’s much more forthcoming with his interests. His knife is like an extension of his arm. A crutch.

He twirls it through his fingers, before dragging the tip of it down the woman’s arm. The noises she was making suddenly stop. Her eyes widen as the sharp point presses against her flesh. I can taste her fear in the air.

He’s barely touching her, and she starts crying, begging him not to hurt her. I roll my eyes at her dramatics. Finn puts the knife away with a heavy sigh, before pulling out of her hole. He goes to stand in front of her to get off the way Holden is doing. He takes her mouth to shut her up.

I grab the last remaining girl and drag her into my lap. Turning my head away when she tries to kiss me. That’s not what this is about. I pull my dick out, roll on a condom, and shove my cock into her ass. If she’s not ready, that’s not my fault. This is all transactional anyway. This is just a fuck. Another task set for us to prove our worth.

I zone out too, letting her bounce on my dick, unbothered by the fact that someone somewhere is recording this. We aren’t the first and won’t be the last people to be serviced by professionals.

Chapter26

Thea

Weekends aren’t nearly long enough around here, especially when my first class is so early on Monday mornings.

I stayed up late last night going over my map and missed my alarm. That means I had to skip breakfast this morning to get to class on time. I take my seat in the middle of the room, next to Austin. My favorite teacher isn’t here yet, so I still have a few minutes to review my notes.

Austin and I are comparing our homework answers when two of the three Coxsuckers walk in. Instinct tells me to avert my gaze, but I ignore those instincts, focusing all my attention on Finn and Holden as they walk towards me, then past me to their seats.

To everyone else, it may look like they’re just their usual stuck up selves, but I recognize a predator when I see one. There’s an air of tension around them like they’re seconds away from pouncing. They have their guard up and so do I.

Just as I’m about to relax, Finn comes back to Austin’s side of the aisle. He stares at me and points to the chair next to his. “Move.”

I snort, then promptly ignore him. They’re on edge. No way I’m sitting anywhere near those assholes today.
