I make it over the railroad crossing just before the arms come down. When I hit the highway, I open my engine full throttle. A quick check in my rearview shows the road is empty behind me. Too bad. She’s gonna lose precious minutes waiting for that train to cross.
I’m about to let up on the gas when I spot a car zipping up the on-ramp ahead of me. I cackle when Thea pulls into the lane right next to me.
We drive the next few miles, her slightly behind me. She makes her move to overtake me, but I cut her off, pulling over to the off-ramp. She’s right back alongside me when we reach the street. The backend of her car drifts when we take the left-hand turn that leads to the road to the main gates. I slow down to make sure she doesn’t spin out or crash. She handles the car like a pro and is back in the race.Dammit.
Around and around the curves we go. The last half a mile is a straight shot. I push my car faster than I ever have before. Pax would be proud. We’re neck and neck when we enter the gate, but she doesn’t slow. She heads straight to the student parking garage. I have a private space on the third level. She’s out of her car and walking towards the dorm before I put mine in park. This is where I get an advantage and give her a lesson in competing against me. You don’t stop until you’ve made it all the way to the end. I said race home. That meant the dorm, not the parking lot.
I’ve run through this garage more times than I can count. I don’t even bother going to the first level. I jump over the wall on the second one, landing in the grass in a crouch, then take off down the side of the building, and across The Circle towards Vale Tower. She’s almost to the courtyard. She turns and sees me coming, then takes off running, head down, arms pumping.
I overtake her, running through the doors and reach the elevator before she makes it to the lobby. I stab the button for the elevator, willing it to hurry.
She reaches the doors before the car arrives, and grabs my shirt, trying to pull me away. The doors open and she rushes inside, trying to close the door so I can’t get in, but I put my hand out to stop them from closing.
We’re both breathing hard. My chest hurts. A combination of exertion and laughter. Her chest heaves, drawing my attention to her tits.
She’s bouncing on her feet, waiting for the car to stop on our floor. I’m ready too. As soon as the doors open, we rush into the hall, running towards our doors. Her key fob is already out. She waves it at her door, and the lock flashes green. I snatch her off her feet before she can turn the handle. “
I win, Pet.”
“How? My door is unlocked. I won.”
I carry her across the hall, open my door and walk inside, closing my door with my foot. I’m still holding her when I drop down on the couch. “I won, because you never stepped foot in your room.”
She shifts around so she can face me. “You dragged me in here. That’s cheating.”
“That’s winning at any cost.” I trail my hand up her back. “So where’s my prize?”
She gnaws on her lip, then says, “We didn’t bet any prizes. This was for bragging rights.”
Bragging rights? Just to tell people you won? I don’t get it. “Do they do that a lot where you’re from? Just walk around saying, ‘I won’ and people believe them?”
“Yes. Sometimes there are witnesses and sometimes there aren’t. But if you claim the title, you have to be ready to defend it at any time, so most people don’t just say they won without the ability to back that claim up with a new challenger.”
I think about that. I like winning. I like people knowing I’m a winner. But I also like knowing people’s secrets, and this is like a combination of both.
It’s a secret we were at the movies together and raced home andIwon. I’m okay with not sharing that info with anyone.
My hand’s on the back of her neck, massaging the tendons on the side. She shifts against me, making my dick hard. “So what now, Pet?”
I apply a little more pressure, pulling her towards me, and rock my hips so she can see what I think should happen next.
She tries to climb out of my lap. “Now, I need to get to bed.”
I pull her down against me, grinding my dick against the seam of her pants. “I have a bed.” Though we don’t need to go there. I can do everything I’m thinking right where we are.
“I meant, mine.” She puts her hand against my chest and pushes back. I release my hold on her and let her climb to her feet. My eyes drink in the shape of her ass as she walks over to my door. She doesn’t even say good night when she steps into the hall, closing the door softly behind her. I drop my head back on the couch.
I had a shitty day. I can’t name one thing that made me feel that way, but I’ve just felt kind of off. Like I’ve been dragging around, uneasy and heavy in my skin. That’s why I went to the movies tonight. I was hoping the adrenaline rush from the screen would work its way into my body and lighten me up.
I’m in a better mood, but I know it was a combination of the movie and the girl I sat next to.

Thea
LJ and I are hanging out tonight. This is the first time she’s been to my room, even though I’ve invited her over before. She kept turning down my offer, afraid of what the other residents would say. I finally convinced her nobody will care enough to say anything.
When we reach my door, she says, “Tell me again how you wound up with a room right next to them.”
