She doesn’t, because of course whatever supernatural entity created me doesn’t like me. “Why are you all standing there? Do something.” Eloise points to Madison, indicating she should jump into the fray. Okay, so maybe they like me a little today, because Sovereign Sister Madison is second on my list of people whose ass I wanna kick.

She doesn’t move toward me, though. Not until Eloise literally shoves her at me like some kind of shield. I guess Madison does the math and decides fighting me is easier than dealing with Eloise.

“She attacked a Sovereign Sister. We have to do something about it. As your pledge master, I order you to defend.”

Oh great. Putting the peons in the way. I didn’t sign up for that and neither did they, but if they want any chance of crossing over, they have to do what Madison says.

I give them all one warning. “Don’t involve yourselves in this. I’m airing my grievance with the Sovereign Sister with witnesses present as outlined in the pledge handbook.”

“The handbook doesn’t give you permission to physically assault anyone.”

“It says equal and just manner. Since you guys let severalsomeone’sput their hands all over my body, and inflict a measure of pain, I’m returning it in kind. The fear and confusion you feel is equal to my experience at someone else’s mercy while strapped to that table. So you see, I’m being more than fair. I don’t have anyone holding Eloise down, preventing her from fighting back.”

I cup my fingers toward myself, telling her to bring it on. Madison backs up. She can’t exactly say I’m wrong. The pledges do too. It’s clear Eloise isn’t about to engage in this. It’s fine, I have one more trick up my sleeve. There’s something she’s always talking about. Bragging, really, and I’m about to use it against her.

“I move to have Eloise removed as Zeta Nu Interim President and propose a new leader be chosen in accordance with the sorority’s bylaws.”

“You can’t do that!”

The bylaws say as Interim President she has to be able to meet all the requirements of the current pledge year. That means all tasks, games and expectations. If she can’t cut it, then she’s tossed out.

I look over at Madison, who would be filling in for her. I don’t think she deserves a promotion, but just the fact that Eloise has to step down until it’s over makes that bearable. I put a motion on the floor and I wait for someone to say something.

Eloise snickers, “Your motion is-”

“I second the motion.”

I turn around, looking for the person who has the balls to speak up against Eloise. I can’t tell who said it, and by the ways she’s squinting, she can’t either. The sorors move into the room, pushing the pledges out of the way.

Another person adds their vote. Eloise’s face turns beet red. I only need one more member of the pledge committee to agree and it’s a done deal. I’m sure there're some loopholes Eloise will be free to exploit, but at least she has to put herself out there.

“I join with the motion.”

My eyes bug out as the treasurer steps forward. She’s one of the most brutal committee members and has thrown more than a few evil eyes my way. With her vote, Eloise is about to enter a fight for her life period in her sorority memoirs.

“I’m going to make you pay for this, Pledge.” Eloise hisses at me.

Oh, this is good. This is even better than I could have hoped. “Me? No, boo, you can’t make me do another motherfucking thing in this pink taffeta hell hole. Consider this my official resignation. I quit.”

“Quit?” Madison asks, clearly never having heard those words before.

“That’s right. You can take this pledge pin and your unicorn sparkles and shove them up your ass. I’m too fucking awesome to be a Zeta Nu.” I pull the pin off the underside of my shirt where it’s hidden and slap it into the treasurer’s palm on my way out the door. I wouldn’t want her to have to write that expense off.

* * *

Two days ago I went all rage queen on Eloise and her sister bitches. I’m glad I quit. Sorority life was never gonna be a good fit for me. I’m just sorry that LJ will have to deal with them without me.

I don’t trust those vindictive cunts not to try to make her redo her chastity vow night, but she’s a grown woman, and I can’t make her quit. This sorority is her dream, and I’d be an even crappier person if I tried to make her give it up.

I finish my last lap on the track before walking over to the stands to stretch. I’ve been upping my cardio and hitting the heavy bags in the gym after hours. I still haven’t found a trainer willing to take me on, so I’m reading books and watching videos on the internet trying to learn some new moves. I have a fight coming up and I need to be ready for it.

After a quick stop at my dorm to shower and change, I head out for dinner, checking my phone on the way. No new messages. Not that I expected any, but I kinda’ hoped there would be. I ignore the looks I’m getting when I step into The Rock.

Everyone knows I went bat shit crazy and caused a power vacuum in Zeta Nu house, even if they don’t know why. They’re talking about me, but I don’t care.

I’m not the only one who thinks it was long passed time Eloise got called out on her shit. Hence the reason the committee voted for her to re-qualify as a Zeta Nu. I’m just the only one who had the balls to say something about it.

I grab my food and eat quickly. I might not care about the whispers, but that doesn’t mean I have to sit around and listen to them. I’m almost done with my meal when LJ comes in. I swallow my last bite and screw the cap back on my water bottle. Time to go. I dump my tray and walk towards the exit, so she can enjoy her meal without having to look at me.
