“No fucking way. That would make Kelsey your—”

“Niece.” A smug smile creeps on his face. It takes everything I have to stay where I am and not wipe it off with my fist.

“Bullshit. You’re lying.” He has to be. Muscles in my body tense with every heavy breath I take.

“I promise ye I am not. With me sister marrying that fecking idiot, we decided it was best to keep the fact that we’re kin a secret, but I was never far away.” He swipes a framed photo off of his desk and holds it out to me. “I’ve been watching her her whole life.”

My throat goes dry as I stare down at the two babies sitting on a younger Finn’s lap. One has dark hair and pale skin, but other than some chubby cheeks, Kennedy looks pretty much the same. Then I take in the second baby and there’s no mistaking those wild red curls that stick out on her head.

“Son of a bitch.”

“That’s Uncle Finn to ye.” The smug bastard winks and leans back in his chair.

Turns out I was right. Things have just gotten more fucked.
