“Why?” He lowers his head as he shoots me a look.

“Because I want to call my dad and mine is thousands of miles away in my apartment.” I straighten my shoulders ready to force the issue if I have to, but he surprises me.

“Have at it, Wildcat.” He slaps his phone in the palm of my hand.

My eyebrows crease. That was almost too easy. He’s up to something. I’m not sure what he’s playing at, but I’m not giving him the satisfaction of winning this game.

The phone rings until his voicemail picks up. I leave a message and hope to hell he calls back. The quicker he does the sooner I can go home and leave this crazy asshole behind.

“No answer?” He cocks his head to the side, his eyes working something behind them as he takes his phone back and shoves it in his back pocket. He’s a bit off, but then I have a light bulb moment. Everything all clicks into place for me.

“Nope, but you knew that he wouldn’t pick up didn’t you?” My hands move from my hips to across my chest. “That’s the only reason you even let me call him. What else do you know that you aren’t telling me? Is there a reason he’s not answering?”

“Nothing for you to worry about.” His gaze travels around the room, landing everywhere but on mine.

“You’re so full of shit.” I shake my head at my own stupidity. Some things never change. I should have known better.

“Careful, Wildcat.” He steps into my space until we’re standing toe-to-toe. “I’ve been tolerant of your shit so far, but I’m reaching my limit and you won’t like what happens to you when I do.” Heat pours off of him in waves, but I don’t take it for the warning sign that it is because I’m seeing red myself.

“You don’t scare me. I can’t wait until I’m finally back home and rid of you for good.”

“Right.” His lips press into a tight line as he moves toward the door. “Sleep on it and we’ll talk in the morning.”

“What are you doing?” I rush to the door, but I’m not fast enough to catch it in time before he’s closing it in my face. “You can’t keep me in here you son of a bitch!” I bang on the heavy wooden door with both of my fists.

The lock clicks into place causing my heart to plummet into my stomach. My fists continue to pound against the damn door hoping like hell he’s just messing with me.

“I’ll be back, Wildcat. Try not to get yourself into too much trouble while I’m gone.”

Footsteps disappear confirming the worst. I’m trapped. A damn prisoner in Axel’s house.

How the hell did this happen?
