Page 1 of Redemption

Kelsey

I’m running through the frontdoor of my house in a fog. My brain is still trying to make sense of what just happened, tonight. There was so much blood, but she’s going to be okay. That’s all that matters. What hurts the most in all of this is Axel’s betrayal. He lied to me from the time I laid eyes on him. Broke my heart and shattered it into a million pieces.

“Mom! Dad!” I continue on through the house into the living room where I find my parents sitting down with a cup of tea.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” My dad’s eyebrows draw together as he sets his cup down on the coffee table.

They take one look at my appearance and my mother gasps. Charlee’s blood still coats my clothes and hands. My face throbs and I’m sure there are some big bruises forming. That’s the least of my problems right now.

“What happened to ye?” Her Irish accent has faded over time, but it still slips out when she’s stressed, much to my father’s disapproval.

“I…Charlee—” My throat closes up as it becomes impossible to form words. “I need to get out of here. Disappear for a while. Please.” I’ve never asked my parents for anything like this before, but I know they have the resources to make it happen. And I need to be somewhere where I can clear my head. Far away from a blue eyed bastard whose dimples make me weak in the knees. The bastard who’s a silver tongued snake.

My dad stares at me for a minute before nodding his head. “I’ll take care of it. You get cleaned up and meet me in my office.”

“Thank you.” With that I run off to shower and pack my things.

Minutes later, I’m standing in my dad’s office with a my brand new pair of brown cowgirl boots on and a new identity in hand.

Tonight’s the night Kelsey Loren dies and Lorelei Smith is born.
