“Oh, tha’?” Munro chuckled, stepping between Anna and Lachlan, “Tha’ he did for the pleasure. No’ killing me future wife here”—he snaked an arm around Anna’s shoulders and beamed—“tha’was tough fer ‘im!”

Katarina’s eyes widened. “Future… wife?”

Anna smirked and looked over at Munro, who nodded.

“Aye! Ye dinna think tha’ I’d let you an’ Lachlan have all the lovey-dovey nonsense, did ye? No, after watchin’ this fiery-haired lass on the battlefield an’ rollin’ with ‘er in the sheets, I decided I couldna’ let a catch like ‘er get away!”

Anna giggled and shrugged, “What can I say? I’ve got a thing for big… hearts.”

Katarina blushed as the two laughed at that.

Munro smiled and leaned in to offer Katarina a kiss on the forehead. “It’s good t’see ye up and well, lass, but I think my blockhead brother deserves some alone time with ye.” He took Anna’s hand then and nodded to her, turning and heading out of the cave.

Leaving her alone with Lachlan.

HerLachlan.

“So…” she looked up at him, “Scots pride, huh?”

“Aye,” Lachlan nodded, “Sometimes it makes us do foolish things.”

“Sometimes?” she raised an eyebrow.

“Och! Fine, lass, ye win! A lot of times,” he chuckled, taking her hand in his.

She smiled at the contact, reveling in how right it felt. “So… just how long has it been?”

“About a week,” he frowned. “Ye’ve been slipping in and out of consciousness fer the past few days, but—I”

“A week? Oh no! Erik is probably freaking out right now!” she cried out, looking around. “Where’s my cell phone?”

“Who’s Erik?” he narrowed his eyes even as he handed her the phone.

She smirked, noticing the jealousy in his gaze and she chuckled, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. “Erik is my agent, dear; my verygayagent,” she grinned. “Believe me, if anyone should be jealous about him it’s me! You are just his type.”

“I see,” Lachlan blushed at that, then quickly smirked and offered a nonchalant shrug, “Well, we’ll have to show him just what he’s missing then when we get to New York.”

“I guess s—” Katarina’s eyes widened, “Wait! Did you say whenwego to New York?” she beamed, leaping up and wrapping her arms around his neck.

“Aye, lass. I’m coming with ye. Munro won’t be joining us, I’m afraid—he and Anna have some things to settle here now that the vampires aren’t terrorizing the town—but it’s all been discussed and he agrees it’s for the best,” he smiled.

Katarina blushed and nodded, “So Munro and that vampire are really getting married, huh?”

“Aye, he an’ Anna have been inseparablean’insufferable,” he laughed. Then, shrugging his one shoulder, he smiled, “Butthere’s no mistaking it; they’re in bluidy love alright!” He grinned. “As I am for ye.”

“Y-you love me?” Katarina blushed, looking up into his eyes.

“Aye, that’s right, Katarina… I love ye,” he leaned down, moving his face closer to hers. “An’ doona expect me to take ‘no’ for an answer after all I’ve—”

“Oh, Lachlan! You won’t have to! I love you too!” she shot up and pressed her lips to his.

Then her phone began to buzz.

“Och! It’s been doin’ tha’ fordays! Turn it off already!” Lachlan growled, going to kiss her again.

“It’s Erik,” she moaned as his lips trailed down her neck. “I… I’ve already missed over a hundred calls…” She forced herself to hold him back, giving him a pleading look. “I-I really need to answer this. If to only let him know I’m not dead.”

“Fine! Hurry!” he grinned, moving down her body and beginning to pull her pants off. “But doona expect me to stop!”
