I huff. “You’re lucky you give great orgasms.”
“I’m lucky for a lot of damn reasons, darling.” He smirks at me. I walk faster until we enter the bedroom, and I close the door behind us.
“What the hell!” I whisper-yell at him.
“I didn’t know they were coming.” He gives a sheepish expression. “But I’m not too surprised.” Eros shrugs.
“You could have woken me up. Not let me walk in there like this.” I motion to the thin robe I have on. “It looks like we spent the night having sex.”
“We did.”
“You shut it.” I smack his chest.
“Darling, I promise it’s fine.”
“No, it’s not.” I start to pace back and forth. “It’s your parents. What are they going to think of me?” Eros talks about his parents with the utmost respect. The stories he told me about them and his childhood are almost storybook-worthy. The total opposite of my experience growing up.
“It is my parents, and they’re excited to meet you. Think it’s why they showed up.” Eros is leaning up against the bedroom door. I stop pacing.
“They showed up because of me?” I ask. “Wait. They know about me?”
“I talk to them at least once a week.”
“And you mentioned me?”
“Of course I mentioned you. Why wouldn't I?” I don’t know. I don’t tell my parents shit. I haven’t talked to them in over a month. I closed the bank account from which my mom stole the checks. Eros wanted me to file a report, but I wanted to wash my hands of it. If I did that, she’d be blowing up my phone. Right now, all I receive are random calls that I don't answer.
“You really think they’ll like me?” Eros's face softens, and he comes over to me. Like he always does, he lifts me up, sitting down on the bed and putting me in his lap.
“I know they will. You’re down to earth and say what you think.”
“That’s not always a good thing.”
“They’ll like it. You know I love it, Lev. My parents aren’t too far removed from how I am.” That has me relaxing. His mom was nice. There had been no upturned nose or judgmental looks on what I was wearing. “Let's go have breakfast.”
“All right.” I kiss the corner of his mouth. “Let me get dressed, though.”
“Only if I can watch.” I roll my eyes and wiggle to get off his lap. He lets me go. I quickly pull on some jeans and a shirt before running a brush through my hair.
When we come back, they’re setting everything on the table. “You want coffee, sweetheart?” Polly asks.
“That would be nice. Thank you.” Eros pulls out a chair for me, and I sit down. He kisses the top of my head before taking the seat next to me.
“Sorry for popping in on you guys.” Ethan takes a sip of his coffee.
“Blame me.” Polly sets my coffee down next to me. I thank her. “I’ll admit I wanted to meet you. Plus, with Valentine's Day around the corner, I figured my husband could bring me to the city and spoil me some.” She takes the seat next to Ethan.
“I’m sorry, I just wasn’t expecting anyone. I didn’t mean to be rude.”
“Not rude at all.” Polly smiles at me. "Now not eating my breakfast might be considered rude."
“I never turn down food.” I grab a piece of bacon, and Eros starts to fill my plate for me.
“How are things back home?” Eros asks, and everyone falls into conversation.
“You want to go shopping with me later? I wanted to find a dress.” Eros's mom is so nice it’s hard to say no to her. "I assure you that this is not a ploy to interrogate you and give you one of those don't-mess-with-my-son talks. I know if he picked you, then you’re perfect for him.”
“I’d love to go shopping with you.” Polly gives me a giant smile.
