“Okay.”
I sank back into the bed, my thoughts swirling, especially now that he stood before me half-naked.
His body was a perfect blend of strength and sin, on full display.
“What’s wrong, Allyn?”
His voice was laced with concern as he crawled into bed, his body covering mine. His arms braced on either side of my head, the sheets the only barrier between our bare skin.
“Nothing,” I lied.
“Either you tell me yourself, or I’ll get it out of you. The choice is yours.”
It sounded ridiculous, even crazy. I didn’t want to sound crazy, but that’s exactly how Maddox makes me feel. So, I blurted out the question before I could stop myself.
“Have you slept with any of your staff here?”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly caught off guard.
“Where’s this coming from?”
“Just answer the question,” I hated the irritation in my voice. His lips curled into a grin, his gaze fixed on me.
“No, Allyn,” he said, his tone steady.
“I’ve only ever been with you in this house, and I plan to keep it that way. Why are you asking?”
“I was just curious.”
His eyes dropped to my chest, watching the rise and fall of my breath beneath the covers.
He knew I was lying.
“I hate being lied to, Allyn,” his voice was low and raspy. “Especially when you’re the one doing it.”
I bit my lip, the intensity of his gaze making me feel exposed. He was pulling the truth from me, piece by piece.
Maybe it’s better to just tell him. I’ve already started this, there was no turning back now.
“I overheard two girls talking about you.”
“What did they say about me, baby?”
Maddox sounded amused, as if he already knew, just waiting for me to admit it.
“That they want you.”
I avoided his eyes, my face heating with embarrassment. I felt his lips on my neck, kissing softly, his laughter sending a shiver down my spine.
“And the things they want to do to you.”
One of his hands found my jaw, gently but firmly turning my face toward him. His lips slid down my neck, his body pressing against mine as he moved. I let out a soft whimper.
His lips traced kisses down to my breasts, pulling the sheets down just enough to tease my nipple with his tongue, never breaking eye contact.
My body ached for him— the eye contact alone intensifying the sensation, made it impossible for me to stay composed.
‘‘Oh yeah?’’ he murmured, swirling his tongue around my nipple, biting it gently. I bit my lip to stifle the sounds. “Like what?” His lips traveled down my stomach, leaving wet traces in their wake.
