I shook my head, seeing a spark in his eyes.
“You will return to our father, and you will tell him that the war he started, I will finish it. And it will end with his blood.”
I nodded at him, my voice cold and low.
“But for now, I would like to spend time with my woman.”
Angelo cursed again, hissing in my face, trying to free himself, even though he knew damn well he couldn’t.
Without another word, I grabbed Allyn’s hand, entwining our fingers together, and that touch alone sent a surge of electricity through my entire body.
I left the room with her, telling the guards to finish my work.
I’ll send him back to our father, but I never promised to do it without spilling more of his blood.
“So, now you believe me?” she asked, her small steps barely keeping up with mine.
I nodded.
“And I’ll keep my promise to you.” I looked down at her. “I’ll take revenge on the person responsible for Lara’s death.”
I’ll kill my father.
Allyn nodded, squeezing my hand with hers, her touch small yet firm. The little troublemaker doesn’t come close to understanding just how wrapped around her finger I really am.
I’d do anything and more for her.
I’d burn the world to the ground to make sure she’s safe and sound.
“So, your woman, huh?” she teased with a laugh. “I wasn’t aware that I’m your woman, Maddox King.”
I looked down at her again, my gaze locking with hers, before a genuine smile spread across my face—the first real one in my fucking miserable life. She brings out both the best and the worst in me.
“From the moment you kissed me for the first time in my car, I knew you were something special.”
I laughed, memories of that first kiss rushing back and how fucking confident she was, going after what she truly wanted.
I was too much of a coward to admit it back then.
“From that moment, I knew you were my woman, Allyn Romano.”
CHAPTER58
ALLYN
The next day I was left alone in the house while Maddox was out for a business meeting.
Things between us are even more complicated now, especially after everything that went down recently.
I fully thought Maddox took me away from my father to destroy me, not to save me. I also never expected Angelo to be such a snake. But here we are.
Maddox wasn’t my enemy after all—despite what Mikael tried to force me to believe.AndMikael had shown me more than once that he was not someone I can fully trust with my heart.
He’s the one who signed Theo Stone’s death warrant, giving him my hand. His blood was on my father’s hands, and I—I’m in the hands of the man I belong to.
I made my way to the kitchen to grab something to eat while I waited for Maddox, but stopped in my tracks when I heard voices coming from inside.
‘‘He is so freaking hot,’’ one woman said with a dreamy voice. ‘And I heard he’s good in bed.’’
