Mac grunted.
“Master Finn is with them. I want to see the playroom, but I also really, really want you to take me home, like right now.”
“How about we check out the playroom and I promise when I get you home, I’ll make love to you all night long?”
Well, that was perfect. “Home,” Hayley said. “We play, then you take me home.”
He got another kiss.
Twelve
Mac
Mac was impressed with the playroom. By the excited chattering and the hours they’d been there, the boys obviously loved the space.
Sitting beside Jace on a comfortable couch against the wall as Hayley and Avery played on the floor in front of them, Mac was comfortable. The boys were building some kind of city or something.
Avery had kept close to Jayme for the first hour, but eventually Jayme had urged Avery to have his own fun.
Mac was keeping an eye on Jayme, though. That way Hayley could relax and play as well instead of worrying about his brother.
Jayme, Caleb, and Mitch were across the room with some of the older kids’ toys, although Caleb was going back and forth between the two groups, handing out teacups.
Even Mac held a pink princess teacup in his hand.
“Everything okay between you and Hayley?” Jace asked quietly.
Peering down at his boy, Mac smiled. “Yes, he lives with me now.”
Jace snorted. “Officially, you mean. Because you and I both know that had been your plan the entire time.”
“Oh, Hayley is aware of that as well. I told him I bought the house for him.”
“Radical honestly,” Jace said. “It’s a nice policy.”
Mac nodded.
“Does he know? About the other thing?”
“He knows.”
Jace turned to look at him. “And?”
“And my boy is very accepting.” It wasn’t Mac’s place to say anything about Hayley’s Papa. Or what he’d talked about with his own boy. Mac appreciated Jace looking out for Hayley, but Mac was Hayley’s Daddy now.
“That’s good. Hayley is perfect for you. And I think you’re perfect for him.”
Mac nodded. He wanted to say more but was a little choked up. Jace and he had never been very friendly. He’d spent more time with the other two couples. But with Hayley and Avery’s friendship being what it was, Mac and Jace would be together often. To have the man say that, well, it meant something to Mac.
It was hard to earn Mac’s respect. He often saw the worst in people. Jace had his respect though. The way he took care of and loved Avery showed Mac the kind of man Jace was. Someone that Mac could see himself being friends with one day.
Jace patted his arm. “I’m going to get the boys a drink. Anything for you?”
“A bottle of water, please. Master Finn has Hayley’s favorite juice as well.”
“Master Finn carries your boy’s favorite organic juice? How’d you manage that?”
Mac smirked. “I donated money for the playroom he wanted to open.”
