Jace looked around the large addition. “This was your doing, wasn’t it? And before you’d begun dating Hayley.”
Mac shrugged. “The boys deserve a safe space to be themselves. I know you’re picky about what Avery drinks as well. The juice is low in sugar.”
Jace nodded. “You’re not a bad guy, Mac. Kind of sweet.”
People needed to stop calling him sweet. He was a badass killer. Someone to fear. Someone you never wanted to meet in a dark alley. Damn it, he was a fucking monster.
Hayley peered up at him and grinned.
Shit, Mac could feel himself melt at his boy’s soft look.
What the hell, maybe he was a big softy. People just needed to stop saying it, though.
Sliding off the couch, Mac scooted up behind Hayley.
His boy climbed into his lap with two plastic men, a construction worker and a fireman.
“Having fun?” Mac asked, brushing the hair from Hayley’s forehead.
Hayley nodded as he set his head on Mac’s chest.
“Jace went to get you some juice.”
“Thanks, Daddy.” Hayley walked him men over Mac’s arm. “This room is awesome. I can’t believe Master Finn got it done so fast.”
Mac was impressed as well.
“I believe he was motivated,” Mac said.
“What do you know?”
“The waiter, the one that has a crush on Master Finn?”
“Michael?”
Mac nodded. “He’s interested in exploring being alittle.”
“That’s so cool,” Hayley said. “We’re going to have a whole community of boys like us.”
“Yes, Boy. Friends who will support you.”
Hayley tilted his head back. Mac gazed down at him. Love filled his boy’s eyes.
“I can’t believe this is my life,” Hayley whispered.
“Me neither,” Mac agreed.
Jace returned with the drinks, the boys getting sippy cups of juice. He sat down next to his own boy, although Avery continued to play, binkie in his mouth.
Mac remained on the floor with Hayley for the next hour until he could tell Hayley was ready to go.
“I think it’s time to clean up and get our boys home,” Jace announced.
“Noooooooo!” Avery wailed.
Leaving Jace to deal with his boy, Mac nudged Hayley. “I have a promise to keep once I get you home.”
Hayley shivered. “Hurry, Avery! We have to be good and clean up so our Daddies let us come back.”
