Byron picked up his coffee. “So tell me about your boy.”
Mac narrowed his eyes.
“You do have a boy, right? Or at least have your eye on one?” Byron pressed.
“It’s possible.”
“Need advice?” Byron offered sincerely.
Mac flinched.
Byron held his hands up. He did not want to piss off the hit-man. Unless of course, it was to protect his boy. “I mean no disrespect.”
Mac shook his head. “Is it obvious?”
“No,” Byron said. “I was concerned when Mitch told me you’d followed us around.”
“I was following the private investigator that Mitch’s father hired, as he followed you around. At first.”
That son of a bitch. Byron was certain his boy didn’t know that.
“Mitch’s father wants to control your boy. Wants information he can use to keep Mitch under his thumb.”
“That’s obviously not working. And I haven’t seen any private investigator.” Of course, he hadn’t seen Mac either.
Mac grinned. “He might have gotten a better job offer.”
“You killed him?” Byron asked shocked.
“No.” Mac frowned. “He took a job in another state. I have connections all over the world. He was a good investigator and I knew someone who needed an employee with his skills.”
Byron didn’t know whether or not to believe him.
“You followed him and saw us. I think that’s what drew you in to protect Mitch.”
Mac nodded. His face tightening.
“And you saw the dynamic we share.”
“I can’t get into the club. The security is too tight,” Mac said.
“I’ll let Master Finn know. I’m sure he’d appreciate it.”
“He’s got some weak points but to breach them it would have also left him open for other hackers.”
“I appreciate your restraint. You could apply for membership.”
“I’m not big into joining things.”
Byron nodded. “My offer is sincere. If you’d like to talk you can approach me like you did today. You don’t have to lurk in the shadows.”
“I do not lurk,” Mac declared.
Amused Byron picked up his cup. “Of course you don’t.”
Mac merely pressed his lips together.
“I teach a class on human sexuality at the University. You could also sign up for my course.”
