He looked over at Grant as he reentered the Jeep and climbed behind the steering wheel.

“You look very nice tonight,” Grant told him. “I especially like how those pants hug that perfect ass of yours.”

Caleb flushed. He’d picked his outfit carefully. Spending nearly two hours going through his closest. He’d tried on outfit after outfit before settling on black slacks and a blue button-down shirt that he’d been told by his personal shopper would match his eyes. He’d wanted to look good for Grant. And the mess he’d left behind in his bedroom was so worth it by the heated look Grant was giving him. “Thank you.”

“I hope you are hungry. I’ve heard really good things about this restaurant,” Grant said.

“Me too. I’ve never been to Michelle's before but their reviews are fantastic,” Caleb shared. When Grant had asked if he could take Caleb to dinner Caleb hadn’t known what to say. He didn’t go out unless it was to the club or for one of his fur babies.

“You’ve never been there?” Grant inquired. He backed out of the drive and Caleb tried to stop his leg from bouncing.

Caleb shouldn’t be this nervous. He’d already had two great nights with Grant.

“I don’t go out a lot,” he confessed.

“I guess I understand. I was just surprised. Since you’re a young single guy I figured you ate out a lot.”

Caleb shook his head. “Not really.” Not ever.

“Well I’m glad I can take you somewhere special then,” Grant said. He laid his hand over Caleb’s where Caleb had been twisting his fingers.

“Me too,” Caleb whispered.

“So how was your day today? I’m sorry I couldn’t call you this morning as I planned but I got called onto a scene early.”

“It’s okay,” Caleb hurried to assure him. Grant had an important job. He helped people. All Caleb had done was spend the entire day getting ready for his date.

Grant cleared his throat. “Your day?”

Damn, Grant was going to get tired of repeating himself. Most Doms did. Caleb just always got lost in his own thoughts. “It was fine. I didn’t do a whole lot. My masseuse came today so that was wonderful.” Petra was a tiny slip of a woman but she had strong arms. “I had a swim after then took the dogs to the park so they could run off some energy. I try to take them every day that the weather is good.”

Grant whistled. “You have your own pool?”

Caleb blushed again. Was that weird? “Uh yeah, I’m used to having to watch my weight and how I look so I took up swimming when I was eight or so. My agent didn’t want me lifting weights and putting on too much muscle so swimming was the best option. I found that I really enjoyed it. When I swim I don’t have to worry about talking to anyone or how I’m supposed to act. It’s just me in the water.” Shit, had he said too much? He hadn’t meant to make that last confession.

“That makes sense,” Grant said. “Being in the water is doing wonderful things for your form.” He turned his head since they were stopped at a red light and winked. “But having the space to relax is important. I’m glad you figured that out. It took me a long time to find something that gave me that peace and freedom.”

“What do you like to do?” Caleb asked. He wanted to learn everything about this man.

“I run,” Grant shared. “If the weather is nice I run down by the river before work. I can shower before my shift and dress there. If it’s too cold or raining there is a gym at the precinct and in my apartment building.”

“Oh.” Caleb had been surprised that Grant lived in an apartment instead of a house. Grant had told him that he didn’t need much space since he was hardly home which made Caleb feel stupid for having such a large house.

“The gym at the precinct is great. I do enjoy lifting weights and there’s always someone around to work out with.”

Caleb reached over and squeezed Grant's bicep. Seeing the detective in his leather vest and having it opened had shown his fantastic upper body. “I approve of your workouts,” Caleb teased, although he was being completely honest.

“Well I’m glad,” Grant replied with a smile. “It’s even better because that means I can pick you up and carry you around.”

“Yeah.” He shuddered and had to clear his throat. Talk about a fantasy.

“And we’re here,” Grant announced.

Caleb sat up straight in his seat and noticed they were at the valet. Damn, Caleb hadn’t paid attention to the drive. He’d looked up the restaurant earlier but had forgotten the address. He’d need it if Grant left him there and he needed to call an Uber.

“Ready?” Grant lifted Caleb’s hand that he’d remained holding for the entire drive. Damn, Caleb hadn’t noticed that either. He’d gotten so lost in enjoying talking to Grant which was so strange.

“Caleb? You okay?”
