Grant laughed. “Slow down. I couldn’t answer your questions even if I wanted to because you haven’t even given me a chance.”

Caleb blushed. “Sorry.”

“I’m just teasing you boy. I love seeing you so happy.” They reached the living room and Caleb screeched as he spotted the bear.

“Daddy! It’s so big.” He ran over like he was going to jump on it but then he spotted the kitchen and froze.

Caleb blinked at the kitchen.

Grant walked over and placed his palm on Caleb’s shoulder.

“That’s mine?” Caleb whispered.

“It is.” Grant noticed that Caleb got quiet when he was uncertain. “Go check it out,” he encouraged.

Caleb shuffled his feet until he was standing in front of the play fridge. He opened the door and gasped.

“When I was at the store yesterday I ran into Jace and Byron. Jace was picking up another animal set for Avery. When I saw the kitchen I remembered your favorite show. I thought you could play like you were on the show. Jace and Byron bought the food and dishes.” He pointed to the cabinet above the sink where he’d stashed the dishes.

Caleb peered up at him with wide eyes. “You told Jace and Byron about me?” He looked panic.

“Both of my friends know that we’re dating. You hung out with them and Avery and Mitch at the club remember?”

“Yeah, but you bought me stuff with them?”

“What’s the real problem baby?” Grant asked.

“You bought my doll yesterday?” Caleb inquired.

“Byron was the one that actually showed me the right aisle,” Grant told him. “We didn’t discuss what I was buying but they knew it was for you.”

“What’d they say?”

“Say?”

“About me playing with dolls?”

“Nothing, they helped me pick out the dresses for Lizzie.”

Caleb frowned. “I don’t understand.”

“Caleb, our friends will accept what you enjoy because you enjoy it. They’ll accept you.”

He shook his head.

“That’s why they wanted to pitch in and get you some stuff too.”

“Ummmmm okay.”

“They won’t judge you. Remember they were already at the store. You accept Avery wearing diapers and taking a bottle, don’t you?”

“Of course.”

“Then you should expect the same consideration.”

Caleb nodded slowly. “Did you tell them…other things?”

Grant furrowed his brow.
