This would be a great surprise for his boy. It was also helpful Caleb understood that Grant was truly interested in what made him happy.

He grabbed a cart pushing it as he started to wander the aisles. The baby section was upfront so Grant searched for what would call to his boy. Spotting the child plates and sippy cups with princesses in purple and pink he picked up a box.

Caleb didn’t identify as a little so he bypassed the bottles, pacifiers, and diapers. Although as much as Caleb enjoyed suckling him maybe a pacifier wouldn’t be too bad of an idea. He’d think more on that. Grant preferred to buy adult pacifiers anyway so the store wouldn’t have what Grant would want anyway.

Next, he pushed his cart toward the back of the store. That was when he ran into two men he hadn’t expected to see.

“What’s up?” Byron asked with a grin.

“Hey,” Grant said with surprise. He hugged and back slapped Byron and Jace. “Didn’t expect to see you two here.” He glanced around. “Where’s Avery?”

“He’s picking up a shift at the coffee shop,” Jace told him.

Grant lifted a brow and Jace shrugged. When Jace and Avery had started to date Avery had worked himself to the bone going to work part-time and working three jobs. Avery was now in school full time while working part-time at only the coffee shop. But the weekends were always reserved for Daddy and little time.

“It’s only for a half shift and he wanted to help.”

Damn, Jace was so in love with his boy. Avery could probably get anything out of Jace he wanted although Avery would never think of that.

“Doing some shopping yourself?” Byron asked. He peered into the cart.

“Caleb might have a ton of money but he doesn’t spend it on himself. He doesn’t have any toys and nothing to really embrace his boy side.” Grant didn’t bring up the lingerie since he hadn’t discussed it with Caleb.

“Well I got the new playset for Avery,” he held up a ranch set with horses, cows, sheep, and barns. “Why don’t we help you so you can get back to your boy.”

“I’d appreciate it,” Grant responded. “I’m still not sure what to get.”

“Let’s look around,” Byron suggested. “Anything you know he’d like?”

“Doll clothes,” Grant said immediately. “His doll only has three outfits.”

“Back here,” Byron said with a wave. “I just saw some.”

Grant followed behind his two friends as they walked deeper into the store. They passed outrageous Lego sets, cars, trucks, trains, all kinds of toys but they weren’t right for his boy.

Finally, they reached what would be considered the girl section. Although he knew several littles or boys who liked dolls and stuff.

The entire aisle was filled with dolls, clothes, and baby accessories.

“Wow,” Grant murmured. There was so much stuff and Caleb needed it all.

Jace laughed and slapped his back. “I feel the same way every time I look for more animals for Avery.”

“How do you keep from buying the store out?” He was completely serious. He didn’t make much money as a detective. Yes, Caleb had money but Grant wanted to provide for his boy. But he really couldn’t. Caleb could afford to order hundreds of dollars of food then waste what wasn’t eaten. Grant didn’t live paycheck to paycheck but he wasn’t rich. Maybe it would be better for Caleb to be with someone who understood having money and could buy him whatever he wanted. Hell, it would be hard to take his boy on a proper vacation when Caleb had been all around the world.

“Hey!” Byron snapped his fingers in front of Grant’s face.

Grant blinked seeing that Byron and Jace were looking at him with concern. Grant shook his head. “What am I doing with a boy who can buy and sell me ten times over.”

“Grant!” Jace snapped as Byron groaned.

“What?” he scowled at his friends.

“You’re an idiot,” Byron declared.

“Don’t do this,” Jace added.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Grant puffed up. He was trying to figure out what to do with his boy and his friends weren’t supporting him.
