“Oh, that’s cool. They have some of those on this show,” Avery told him.
He sat back against Jace when Grant entered the living room again. Grant handed his Daddy a filled bottle and a little bowl.
“I hope you feel better soon, little one,” Grant told him.
Avery ducked his head. “Thank you, sir.”
“So sweet,” Grant praised. He looked over at Mitch. “Are you ready to go? We need to get a move on if we’re still going to make it to the club in time to see the main show.”
Mitch sighed but stood up. He glanced at Avery. “It was nice to see you again.”
“You too, and thank you for my new bear,” Avery said. He wanted to say more but wasn’t sure if it was his place. He leaned closer to Jace. “Can you ask him if he wants to come back sometime and play with my animals?” he whispered.
Jace smiled wide then kissed his forehead. “What a good idea.” He looked up as Grant ushered Mitch out of the room.
“Mitch?” Jace called.
Mitch turned around.
“Thank you for helping to take care of my boy.”
“Sure, no problem.” Mitch shrugged.
“Well it means a lot to us and my boy would like you to come back and play toys with him sometime.”
“Really?” Mitch seemed really surprised.
Avery nodded. “I have so many cool toys! We can even make our own zoo.” He didn’t have any water animals though. Maybe he could ask Jace if they could buy some for when Mitch came over. It would be nice for his new friend.
Mitch didn’t seem to know what to say. He shifted from foot to foot then nodded before turning and walking away quickly.
Grant shook his head then followed behind.
That was weird.
“That was a very nice invitation,” Jace told him after the front door was closed.
“You said we could be friends,” Avery pointed out.
“Yes, I did. And Mitch needs friends like you who understand him. He’s always been surrounded by Doms. Having someone to play with will be a new experience.”
For Avery too, but it would be fun, probably.Hopefully.
“I know you don’t want to eat but Grant picked up some crackers that should help settle your tummy.” Jace moved the small bowl closer to him.
Avery peeked inside and saw small crackers in the bowl. He picked one up and nibbled on it.Oh, apple. Yummy. He popped it into his mouth then reached for another.
“Take your time,” Jace suggested. “We don’t want you to get sick again.”
He picked up another cracker. “K.” Before chomping down on another cracker.
Jace shook his head as he passed over his bottle. “Here, drink some Gatorade too.”
“Thanks, Daddy.” He sucked on the bottle and peered back over at his show. He might be sick, but he was enjoying being taken care of. How weird was that?
Jace alternated between giving him crackers and drinks of his bottle. Another episode started and Avery settled against Jace to soak up his warmth.
