“It sounds like you have a good Daddy who cares about you.”

“I’m really lucky,” Avery shared.

“I’m sure your Daddy feels the same way.”

Avery nodded. Jace had told him all week how much he’d enjoyed the prior weekend. He’d been disappointed when Avery had accepted a shift at the restaurant for tomorrow night. Avery had hesitated but he’d been scared that too much time with him would make Jace tire of him sooner. “I’m going to talk to him tonight.”

“Good, and remember I’m here to talk things through as well. Just come by my office,” Professor Jones offered.

“Thank you. I really appreciate the offer, Professor Jones.” He probably could never take the professor up on his kindness, but it was nice knowing someone in the lifestyle. It made Avery feel less alone.

“You can call me Byron when not in class. I’m not that much older than you, I suspect.”

“Yeah, and if you go to the club, I might see you sometime. Daddy said once I’m more comfortable, he’d like to take me,” Avery said.

“Well I look forward to seeing you and meeting your Daddy. I joined a month ago after I got settled in. I moved here just a few weeks before the semester started.”

“He’d like meeting you too,” Avery told him. “I told him all about my class and he likes hearing about it. I think he’s jealous his school didn’t offer a class like this.”

“Me too. It’s one of the reasons I started the course.” He slapped Avery’s desk. “Now, why don’t you get out of here so you can see your Daddy?”

Avery gathered his things and stuffed them in his backpack. He had to get to the coffee shop before he could see his Daddy. “Thanks again, Prof.”

“Anytime.”

Avery rushed out of the room so he could get to work. He was both nervous and excited about seeing Jace.

JACE

Jace made sure he was early so he wouldn’t find Avery outside waiting on him like the week before. He walked into the coffee shop fifteen minutes before eight. Two customers sat at a corner table and the little shop appeared to have already been cleaned.

“Hey.” Avery smiled at him when he spotted Jace while coming in from the back room. Avery had his hands full of cups and he looked adorable. Tired, but so fucking cute. “I’m just stocking up then I’ll be ready to go.”

“No hurry. I’m early, anyway.”

Avery chuckled. “So you wouldn’t find me outside?”

Jace shrugged. He wasn’t going to lie to his boy. “It’s freezing out there.”

“Yeah, we were busy tonight because of it. Do you want a drink while you wait?”

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Just finish up so I can take you home.”

“Okay.”

Jace didn’t hide the fact that he was watching his boy. Avery had pulled him in from the very beginning. The moment that Jace had seen the sweet boy behind the counter fumbling, nervous, and shy, he’d been hooked. If it hadn’t been for a water pipe leak in his old office, Jace wouldn’t have had to move his base of operations. He was lucky that fate had stepped in that morning and had thrust Avery into his life.

It didn’t take long and with about five minutes left of his shift, Avery was taking off his apron. Jace rose to wait for his boy.

“I’m leaving, Jas!” Avery called to the back.

“Have fun with your man!” Jasmin hollered back.

Avery blushed but was smiling. He grabbed his backpack from under the counter then strolled over to Jace.

“You ready?” Jace asked. He reached out and took the backpack from his boy.
