“Reality sucks,” Avery said.

“I would agree with you there. Have you spoken to your Daddy about it? How you felt when you got home and this week?”

“Not really… no… We’ve both been busy this week,” Avery shared.

“So not only are you coming off a great weekend, but you haven’t been able to see your Daddy this week?”

“I’m seeing him tonight,” Avery said proudly.

“That will help settle you, I think.”

“I just wish I could see him more.”

“And that was where your mind went during class?”

“No. Yes. Kind of,” Avery answered. “I started to think about him and sort of zoned out.”

“Well, I can’t blame you there. And you were paying attention and taking notes, so I would say you’re good to go.”

“Thanks. I’ll concentrate better, I promise.”

“It’s fine.” Professor Jones waved his hand again. “But if I can give you some advice?”

Avery nodded.

“Talk to your Daddy. I bet he wants nothing more than to take care of you and make you happy. As hard as this week has been for you, I bet it’s sucked just as bad for him. If he’s a good Daddy, then he’ll understand how you feel and have ideas on how to help.”

“He always wants to help me.”

“You have a safe word?”

Avery blushed again. “Yes, but I haven’t needed them. My Daddy, he doesn’t really… We don’t do like really hard stuff. It’s more about letting me try things.”

“Avery?” Professor Jones leaned forward and dropped his voice. “Are you a little?”

He covered his face with his hands but nodded.

“I think that’s perfect for you.”

Avery spread his fingers so he could peek at his professor.

“I’m trying not to cross a line over to inappropriate since I’m your professor, but my Dom instincts also want to reach out to an unsure sub.”

Avery dropped his hands then looked around. They were completely alone. “You won’t t-tell anyone about me, will you?”

Professor Jones patted his arm. “Never, no one in the lifestyle should ever do that to you. There is a code that everyone should follow. Outing someone goes against that code. It’s just as important as being safe, sane, and consensual.”

“Okay.”

“Being a little is amazing and having a Daddy who understands is really important. I bet, since it’s still new, that your Daddy is just as nervous as you.”

“You think so?” Avery had never considered that Jace might be just as uncertain as he was. Jace was always so much in control. True, Jace admitted that he was worried about coming on too strong, too controlling. He’d even admitted to having to fight his instincts. Jace was sharing his feelings but Avery was holding back.

Crap.He dropped his shoulders. Instead of worrying, he needed to talk to Jace.

“And it looks like you just had a lightbulb moment,” Professor Jones announced.

“I think I did. Jace has told me about his worries and yet I haven’t shared mine. Even though he tells me there’s no wrong way to how to build our relationship, I’m still scared of screwing up. He wouldn’t like that.”
