“Pancakes?” Avery bounced. “I love pancakes!”

“You told me that during one of our conversations. I knew that would have to be your first breakfast here.”

“Thank you!” He peppered kisses over Jace’s face until they reached the stairs. Jace was holding him tight but Avery didn’t want to make them fall down the stairs. But being carried was awesome. Like maybe he could just stay that way. For the entire day? Or was that asking too much? Jace had said he wanted Avery to stay but Avery didn’t know what that really meant. He needed to ask. Jace had been so understanding that Avery needed to trust him. He laid his head on Jace’s shoulder. “Jace?”

“What is it, sweet boy?”

“Can we talk for a minute?”

“Of course,” Jace said. They had made it to the living room before Jace walked over to the couch and sat with Avery on his lap. He helped Avery scoot so he was looking up at Jace. “What’s wrong?”

“I…”

Jace didn’t pressure Avery to say anything. Just waited until Avery organized his thoughts.

“Did you enjoy last night?” Avery asked. “Me being…little.”

“Last night was amazing. It was the best night I could remember ever having.”

Jace didn’t hide his face or look uncomfortable. He was telling the truth. That had Avery relaxing.

“So, if I wanted to stay the day, like you suggested, you would be okay with that?”

“I would love that. Although I would probably try to talk to you into staying for the weekend. What would you think about that? I could wash your clothes for you so you’d have something to wear Monday and I’d drop you off at the coffee shop for your shift.”

“All weekend…you won’t get tired of me?” He tried to come off as teasing but it was a real concern.

“I can guarantee that I won’t get tired of you. However, it might be you who gets tired of me.”

“No way,” Avery assured him.

“Avery, do you know why I was attracted to the Daddy/ boy lifestyle?”

“You said you liked to care for your partner. That you felt better when you were in control,” Avery offered. He remembered every conversation they’d had over the phone. Avery found it easier to confess his insecurities when Jace was on the phone and not right in front of him.

“Which translates into being bossy or controlling,” Jace told him. “My dates that haven’t been involved in the lifestyle don’t mind my being dominant in bed but that isn’t what they want outside the bedroom.”

Avery understood what Jace was telling him. “And you haven’t had a relationship with one of the boys from the club?”

“That’s right,” Jace said. “I’ve played with boys, at the club, in their home, but never here. And it hasn’t worked out. I can’t turn off my instincts. And my instincts are to take charge of my boy and keep him safe and happy.”

“I understand.” Avery patted Jace’s chest. “Maybe this weekend will give us both what we’ve been looking for?” He could only hope that he didn’t disappoint Jace.

“I’d like to try,” Jace admitted.

“Me too,” Avery said. He chewed on his lip.

“Talk to me,” Jace urged. “I can see there’s still something you’re thinking about.”

“Would it be too much if I wanted…if I was little again?”

“I would love for you to be little. You’re already going in and out of the mindset—it comes so naturally to you. Just like I thought it would.”

“And that’s okay?”

“Yes, very okay.”

“So today we could…we could try all the things we talked about?” he pushed.
