Before I can answer, Shawn appears at my side. “Time to head home, baby,” he says, his hand sliding possessively around my hip.
“Already?” I'm surprised to find I don't want the night to end.
“Got plans for you,” he murmurs against my ear, his voice rough with promise.
Heat floods my cheeks as the other women laugh knowingly.
“Go on,” G waves us away.
After a round of hugs and promises to meet up soon, I head home with my man for a long night of celebrating.
Chapter Fourteen
Easy
The sight of Lexi stretched out on my bed in nothing but black lace makes it damn near impossible to focus on packing. She's propped up on her elbows, those long legs crossed at the ankles, watching me with hooded eyes as I try to remember what the hell I need for this run.
“You're distracting me,” I growl, tossing another T-shirt into my bag.
She arches one perfect eyebrow. “Am I?”
The innocence in her voice is pure bullshit, and we both know it. “You know exactly what you're doing, baby.”
Her lips curve into a smile that makes my dick twitch. “I have no idea what you're talking about, honey. I'm just lying here, minding my own business.”
“Half-naked on my bed is minding your business?” I grab an extra pair of jeans from the closet, focusing on folding them properly so they’ll fit in my saddlebag.
“Our bed,” she corrects softly.
The words hit me square in the chest. I’ve known she was mine since the minute I clapped eyes on her, but realizing she knows it too means fucking everything. Dropping the jeans into my bag, I turn to face her fully. “Say that again.”
She sits up, her eyes meeting mine. “Our bed. Our room. Our home.” Each word comes out stronger than the last. “Unless...”
In three strides, I'm at the bed, my hands cupping her face. “You're not assuming anything, baby. Fuck yes, this is our home. Everything I have is yours.”
Lexi aims one of her blinding smiles up at me, and it’s just another thing making it impossible to get my head on straight.
“Good.” Her fingers trail up my arms. “Now, are you going to tell me what this run is about?”
“You know I can’t.” I press a kiss to her forehead. “Club business isn’t something you’ll ever be privy to unless it’s absolutely necessary.”
She sighs but thankfully doesn't push the subject. She knows the rules. We’ve discussed how things in the club work several times in the last couple of days. “How long will you be gone?”
“Two days, max.” My thumb traces her bottom lip. “Trigg is going to be around to keep an eye on you while I'm gone.”
Her eyes flash with annoyance. “I don't need a babysitter,” she protests. I know she thinks I’m going overboard with her safety, but I know deep down in my gut that things with that John fucker are far from over. It would be too easy if it was, and let’s be honest, when it comes to the old ladies, nothing is ever easy. And knowing that, I'm not risking her safety.
“Not up for discussion.” I step back before I get too distracted by her perfect tits. “Not with your ex out there somewhere.”
She rolls her eyes at the mention of John. “He's in Kentucky, honey. He isn't going to come here.”
Dex has eyes on the fucker, and so far, she’s right. He is in Kentucky. And in a few weeks, if he’s still there, maybe I’ll be able to relax.
“When it comes to the old ladies in this club, trouble always comes calling.” I go back to packing, shoving extra ammo into my bag.
“If you say so,” she sasses.
“I do say so, and please,” I add, checking my gun before sliding it into its holster, “just be good for Trigg, yeah?”
