Page 31 of Embracing Easy

My softening cock slips free and I set her on her feet.

“Promise?” she whispers when we part.

“On my life.”

Lexi melts into me, and we stand there, soaking up the hot water before we finally finish washing up.

Thankfully, the earlier tension between us is gone, and it feels like we’re in a better place. Lexi steps out of the shower, her cheeks flushed as she wraps a towel around her.

I follow suit, grabbing my own towel from the rack.

As I dry myself off, I watch her move about the bathroom. Her movements graceful and unhurried. She catches me staring at her and raises an eyebrow.

“What?” she asks, a bashful smile on her lips.

“Nothing,” I reply, leaning against the counter, eating up the sight of her naked body. “Just enjoying the view.”

She rolls her eyes, but I catch the hue of pink painted across her cheeks. “You’re crazy.”

“Crazy about you.” I reach for her hand. “Come on, let’s get in bed.”

Lexi takes my hand and follows behind me into the bedroom. As I’m pulling back the covers, she heads for my dresser and grabs one of my old tees. She slips it over her head, and the fabric hangs loosely on her petite frame, hitting just below her knees.

“Don’t know why you’re putting that on.”

“What if the house catches on fire?” She has a point, but I plan on having her naked and on her back very soon.

“Hm,” I grunt, pulling on a pair of sweatpants and gesturing toward the bed. She can have her way for now. “Wanna watch a movie?”

She glances at the clock. “Uhm, sure. What do you have in mind?”

“Die Hard?” I suggest, knowing it’s been playing a lot this month.

She laughs. “Please don’t tell me you’re one of those people who think it’s a Christmas movie.”

I clutch my hands to my chest. “You wound me, baby. Are you saying that you don’t?”

Lexi plants her hands on her hips. “Bless your heart. Youareone of them. Honey, it’s an action flick that just happens to be set at Christmas.”

My heart skips a beat. “Call me honey again.”

“What?”

“You called me honey. Say it again.”

She nibbles on the corner of her lip as she moves closer. “Bless your heart, honey.”

Before she even has a chance to react, I scoop her up into my arms and drop her onto the bed, making her break out into a fit of giggles.

I switch on the television and cue up the streaming app, selecting Die Hard before climbing in beside her.

As the movie starts, she snuggles into my side, her head resting on my shoulder. I wrap an arm around her, pulling her close. Halfway through the movie, I feel her shift and drop my eyes to find her staring up at me. “Shawn?”

“Yeah, baby?”

She hesitates. “Thank you.”

I glance down at her. “For what?”
