She waves off my thanks. “It's no problem at all.” Part of me wonders if she prefers being up here with the kids.
Seeing that my little guy’s in good hands, I kiss his head one more time and head back downstairs to the main room.
When I hit the bottom step, I spot Legend by the bar, deep in conversation with Viper and a few of the others. It’s been enlightening to see him interact with these guys. I’ve always known he was a biker, but our relationship before never allowed for me to see this side of him.
As if sensing me watching him, he looks up, and his eyes come straight to mine. I smile as he excuses himself from the conversation and makes his way over to me.
“Everything okay?” he asks, his hand automatically finding its place on my lower back.
I nod, smiling up at him. “Everything's perfect.”
“You sure?” His eyes are probing, but he doesn’t have to worry.
“I never thought I'd have this,” I admit softly.
His arms tighten around me. “Have what?”
I lift my head to look at him. “This. You. A family. People who care about me. I spent so much of my life feeling alone, and now...” The words trail off. Thinking about my past; always having no-one to take my back is hard.
“And now you're stuck with me,” Legend finishes, a smirk playing on his lips even when the look in his eyes says he’s dead serious.
“I think I can live with that,” I tell him truthfully as I lift up onto my tiptoes to press my lips to his. He deepens the kiss and I lose myself in it, in him.
When we finally pull apart, we're both breathless.
“Fuck, baby,” he groans, his forehead resting against mine. “You keep kissing me like that, and we're gonna have to find somewhere private.”
My teeth find purchase in my bottom lip. That doesn’t sound like a threat to me.
“Fuck.” He pulls back and looks around, for what, I have no idea, but he must finally decide on something because in the next instant he’s linking his fingers in mine and dragging me towards the stairs.
“Where are we going?” I laugh.
“My old room.”
“Legend!” I laugh louder.
“Shh,” he shushes me playfully. “Don't want to wake the kids.”
Yeah, that wouldnotbe good.
Hand in hand, we tiptoe past the nursery and into a room at the end of the hallway. As he closes the door behind us, I look around, taking everything in. There’s a twin bed, a nightstand, and a dresser. It's not much, but it's surprisingly clean.
“Your old room, huh?” I ask, turning to face him.
Legend nods, his eyes locked onto mine. “Spent many a night here back in the day before everyone settled down.”
I raise an eyebrow. “And how many women have you brought up here?”
He chuckles, shaking his head. “None that mattered, baby.”
Lifting up on my tiptoes, I loop my arms around his neck. “Good answer,” I whisper, pulling him down for a kiss.
His hands find my waist, lifting me effortlessly as he deepens the kiss. I lock my legs around him, reveling in the feel of his strong body pressed against mine.
God, I need him.
Legend walks over to the bed and gently lays me down without breaking our connection. His hands begin to roam over my body. If he doesn’t touch me where I need him to soon, I just might die.
