Page 25 of Enemy Kisses

More than I should.

Is thatwhyI came here instead of emailing?

Do IwantFinn to kiss me again?

Shit. Is that what I want?

We step over the threshold and when Finn closes the door with a click, silence descends and I’m worried he’ll hear the heavy beat of my heart as it hammers against my ribs. Suddenly, I can’t quite remember why I came over here. And maybe I shouldn’t have followed him so easily into a confined space.

He walks further into his office. “Would you like a drink?” Stopping at a small fridge built into the cupboard, he opens it. “Water, juice, soda?”

Maybe a drink would be a good idea. My mouth is as dry as the Mojave Desert. “Water would be great, thanks.”

He hands me a bottle of water, and our fingers make brief contact, adding to the riot of sensations running through my body. Finn grabs one for himself and tips his head back, taking a long drink. I quickly open mine and take a drink—hoping it soothes my nerves—and dig deep, looking for my anger to replace my sudden bout of lust.

“So, you wanted to see me? Is everything okay with Matthew?” The water goes down the wrong pipe, and I choke. How did he know I wanted to see him? Am I that obvious? “It must be important for you to come in person, or did you miss me?” That sexy smirk of his makes an appearance, and my blood heats. I’m unsure whether it’s because it reminds me of the first time we met or how much I hate that I’m attracted to the man. Either way, it’s a positive because it reminds me why I’m here.

I calmly place the bottle of water on the corner of his desk and stand to my full height, which still leaves me at a pitiful disadvantage. He’s so freaking tall. Well, most people are tall compared to me, so maybe he’s not quitethattall. “Matthew’s working out great. He’s settled in quickly and is proving to be a real asset. Quentin’s even taken him under his wing and is teaching him how to make croissants.”

Finn nods along, smiling. “I’m really happy to hear that. He’s stopped by a couple of times to tell me how much he loves it.”

Oh, that’s great to know. “I’m glad he’s enjoying it.” And there I go, getting derailed from the reason I came here. “I’m here about another business-related issue.” I try to fill my tone with as much controlled professionalism as I can.

He takes a step closer. “Of course you are.” That knowing look has returned to his eyes, and I narrow mine.

“What do you mean by that?”

He moves closer still. “If it was a business-related issue, you could have emailed. You’re good at those.”

My hackles rise. I thought we’d turned a corner in our relationship, but clearly, I was wrong. He thinks he knows me so well and dammit, he’s right. I spin on my heel and head for the door, filling my voice with as much disdain as I can. “Fine, I’ll head back and shoot you an email. I expect a more professional response this time.” My hand connects with the cool metal of the handle and Finn’s front connects with my back.Wow!He moves fast. My heart pounds as my chest presses against the smooth surface of the wood. He burrows his face into the crook of my neck, drawing in my scent, then rubs his scruff along my sensitive flesh until his mouth is right next to my ear.

His warm breath whispers across my skin with his words. “Don’t be like that, Firecracker.”

My breaths come in short pants, and I’m worried I’m about to hyperventilate with his proximity. He presses his whole body against mine, and there’s no mistaking he’s turned on.

That makes two of us.

A wanton moan escapes my lips without permission and I close my eyes in embarrassment as I press my thighs together, trying to stem the instant ache he’s created in my body. He sucks in a sharp breath. What the hell is wrong with me?Whenever he’s around, my body goes haywire and I have no rational explanation. Sure, I find Finn attractive. But this isn’t me. I press back into his groin and he wraps one arm around my middle, holding me tight to him, his heavy breaths teasing me in between open-mouthed kisses. Tilting my head to the side, I give him easier access and he doesn’t hesitate to suck on my pulse point, sending my blood thrumming through my veins.

“You like my mouth on you. Admit it.”

Turning my head to the side, I lock eyes with Finn’s stormy blue irises, which are quickly being swallowed by his pupils. “Never.” He pushes into my body harder, trapping me against the door, and I swear to God that my nipples are trying their best to drill through the wood. Against my better judgment, I don’t struggle to get free. Finn traces my face with his eyes, then he drops his gaze to my lips. I’m not sure if I move, but he presses his lips roughly to mine, and I match his intensity. Our teeth collide as our tongues tangle for dominance. Tasting copper on my tongue, I realize I’ve inadvertently bitten him. He snaps his head away from me and swipes his tongue across his bottom lip, cleaning away the evidence of my aggression.

His lips tip up, and he raises a single brow. “I love your fire.” Simultaneously, he slides his hand lower, connecting with my needy clit through my cotton skirt, making me moan. “Fuck, I can feel how hot you are through your skirt. Tell me I can touch you.” I press my lips together. “Don’t think about it.Feelit.” He swipes the throbbing bundle with his fingers and I push into his touch. “Your body wants me, whether or not your mind is on board. Tell me what I want to hear, Harry.”

I capture his lips with mine, hoping my kiss conveys the permission I refuse to give with words. I want his hands on me, but the rational side of my brain says I shouldn’t be giving in so easily. This girl is not me. I’ve never been this girl. Nobody else has ever made me this desperate.

Why did it have to be him?

He nips at my lip and then pulls away. His breaths are choppy and his eyes are dark as they pierce mine. He drags his hand away from where I want it most, and I grip his wrist to hold him in place. “I need your words, Firecracker. Don’t hold out on me now.” One side of his mouth tips up and he raises an eyebrow as he pushes his hardness against my hip.

Swallowing my pride, I nod. “Touch me,” I murmur, too turned on to go back now.

“Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.” He pauses. “Manners,” he chastises me and my hackles rise.

I push against him, some of my senses coming back to me. “This is a terrible idea. I don’t know how I always end up in this situation with you. You arrogant ass.” He chuckles and his breath fans across my face while he moves slightly, so I’m completely sandwiched between his firm body and the door. I should feel scared, or at the very least, nervous, but I feel neither of those things. His dominance is turning me on more than I’ve been turned on in … well, I don’t think I’ve ever been this turned on. I know if I were to say no or stop, he would. That’s the weird thing. I trust Finn completely. Even though he comes across as arrogant, he’s never come across as a guy who would take advantage of a woman. “C’mon, Harry. One little word and I’ll put us both out of our misery.” He nips me where my neck meets my shoulder, then licks his way up to my ear. “Please,” he whispers.

Blowing out a breath, I can’t believe I’m about to give in, but I have the biggest case of blue lady balls and I’d be stupid to turn down what he’s offering when I know it’ll be good. Probably better than good. God, how big will his head be if he manages to make me orgasm? I lock eyes with him, gritting my teeth. “Plea—”
