Rae reached out and grabbed my bicep, her long pointed nails lightly digging into my skin. She flicked her eyes to Dani. “Are you two heretogether?”
“He wishes.” I heard Reese mutter under his breath.
“So that’s a no then,” Rae said, licking red lips. “How about me and Eva take you somewhere private. Let you get atasteof what Leviathan has to offer.” She leaned further into me, her voice getting low and sultry.
“Oh yes, I’m sure you angels need to release your stress somehow.” I looked back and saw Eva lean into Reese, snapping her teeth near his ear.
Reese started to laugh nervously, no witty comeback at the tip of his tongue.
“We’re alright, I assure you.” I hoped my words were heard, but they didn’t leave and get the hint.
“You both really don’t know when to quit, do you?” Elise questioned, taking another shot and tipping it back.
Rae pouted. “The Soul Seether probably has important things to do here, but that doesn’t mean you both deserve to miss out on the excitement. Demons can be so much fun if you let us.” She took her hand off my arm and pointed at my chest. She trailed her finger down, slowly, getting dangerously close to my waistband.
An arm came out and grabbed her wrist, yanking it away from me. Rae was shoved back, nearly landing in the lap of a demon seated behind her. Dani ran her fingers over the ends of her curls, looking as if she had just seen the most amusing thing. “He said they're fine, so I suggest you keep your hands to yourself.”
Rae straightened out her dress but stood her ground. She looked a little shaken, but Dani didn’t seem to put out her fire. “How about a dance then, hmm.” She cocked her head to the side, eyeing Dani. “There is no harm in that.”
“No harm? That dancing is foreplay at minimum,” Reese pointed towards the swarms of people gyrating on each other as they followed a rhythmic beat. Their eyes were closed like they would rather be nowhere else.
“Personally, I don’t mind a little foreplay.” Eva said, right before Reese broke away from her grip and leaned into the bar like he wanted it to swallow him up.
Rae started to step up to me again, getting ready to grab my hand, but Dani stepped in front of us, swatting her hand away. “I really don’t know if you’re just incredibly confident or you’re really that stupid, but when I say keep your hands to yourself, I expect you to fucking listen. I respect the rules of this place so you should thank the realms I can’t cut off those hands and watch you bleed out. Neither of them are interested,” she hissed. Dani exuded so much powerful energy that it was like anyone in the general vicinity could tell the Soul Seether was here and that she wasn’t happy. “He doesn’t need you to teach him about how fun demons are because I assure you sweetheart, he is very aware of that fact. He’s had a taste and he’s satisfied.” She smiled with all her teeth and propped one of her eyebrows up.
Elise busted out laughing, holding her stomach. “He sure has and he sure is. Nicholas has an affinity for demons.”
Rae blinked from me to Dani, but kept her mouth shut.
“As for dancing…” Dani grabbed my shirt in her fist. “I’ve got that covered.”
I looked down at her. “I don’t dance.”
“Oh, shut up, yes you do,” Reese offered, wiggling his brows, but continuing to keep his distance from Eva. I didn’t hate dancing; I just wasn’t prepared to do it right now. Dancing was more for a night out of fun, not a mission. And if I was being honest, I didn’t know if I would survive dancing with Dani.
“I don’t,” I reassured them.
Dani twirled around, keeping her hold on my shirt. Her face held a smirk, and she couldn’t have looked sexier if she tried. “With me you will.”
I quickly looked over my shoulder at Reese and Elise. Elise looked from me to my best friend and rolled her eyes. She slapped the bar for yet another drink before waving her hand for us to leave. “I’ll make sure Blondie doesn’t get assaulted.”
I felt myself being dragged past Rae, who Dani nudged to the side as we made our way through the throngs of bodies. It was much hotter on the dance floor, the floor beneath us changed from wood to solid black. The surface was smooth and I could see how someone easily moved along its texture. I felt us stop and she turned around, falling into me. Her smile was playful, and it was hard for me to hide my own. I looked around at the demons lost in themselves or in their partners. “Hmm, you’ve saved me twice now.”
She pushed out her bottom lip. “Oh, Nicholas, are you upset that you got help from a female?” She narrowed her eyes, daring me to say the wrong thing.
I pulled her face up by placing my fingers under her chin. “Not at all. You’re quite impressive.”
“I’m well aware but thank you.” The way she leaned against my chest granted me a good look down at the tops of her breasts. The minute I did I regretted it, because fuck they were perfect. “I think you made your point though; we can head back.”
I tried to turn and head back to our friends, but she pulled me back to her. She placed her hands around my neck. “You’re dancing with me Mr. Cassial. Whether you like it or not. Or I mean I guess you could go upstairs with Rae.”
I placed my hands on her hips and pressed her against me. “No thank you. What’s upstairs anyway?”
Dani bit her bottom lip. “Nothing you need to be concerned with at the moment. Just know that this isn’t where all the fun is.” The beat changed to a more pop sound, but the bass was low and made me want to sway with her and bring her even closer to me, if that was at all possible. Dani reached up and grazed her lips along mine. She rolled her hips and started moving against me. Her nose touched mine and she kept her face there, her breath mingling with my own. Her tongue came out and licked at my lips as she connected with my pelvis again and again. I squeezed her and moved my hips with hers. She smiled to herself as I started to comply.
I fingered the material of her dress as I tried to distract myself from trailing my fingertips further down and sliding them underneath.
“Does this make up for leaving you like I did?” she asked, her voice close to my ear so I could hear her over the music.
