“The occasional…” I started, swallowing hard and looked over at Dani. She was watching me with her head tilted slightly as if knowing that any mention of sex had me searching for her, thinking about her.
Elise cackled, her laugh almost losing sound. “Oh boy, you aren’t ready for Leviathan.”
“Leviathan?” Reese and I said in unison along with one other voice. I hadn’t realized Garrett had come downstairs until he was currently standing in the doorway.
“Don’t tell meyou’vebeen there?” Elise asked, her curiosity on high alert.
Garrett shook his head vigorously. He had braided his multitude of braids into one thick one down his back, tied off by a thick ribbon. “Oh no, I just remember when we used to stay here, I would hear talk about that place. Quite the wild establishment.”
“It is a sight I can tell you that much,” Beetee mumbled.
“A sight which two angels would get completely throttled by. I’m not fucking babysitting you both while we’re there.” Elise leaned back in her chair, as if her word was final.
“No one is asking you to. We’re grown-ups, I think we can compose ourselves in a demon club.” I swung my arm over the back of my chair.
Elise narrowed her eyes at me playfully. “That’s the concern. You want to be composed in a demon club. If you plan to come along, you are going to have to take that stick out of your ass before a demon yanks it out themselves and spanks you with it.”
Dani leaned her head back and laughed along with Elise. She collected herself, sitting back in her chair. “If you want to come, that’s fine. You don’t have to do any of the talking. Maybe it will be good for you to see another part of Purgatory.” She winked over at me.
“I’ve heard Leviathan was run by some creatures of Hell, they wanted a spot to congregate here in Purgatory, so they created the club. It was passed down to one of the original owner’s sons, I think. Any merit to that story?” Garrett inquired, walking over, and standing by Beetee.
Dani nodded. “Yeah, there are still dealings with Hell and Purgatory within its bowels, but it’s become much more about the club than its original use. I knew I felt a sense of deja vu when we were walking down that pathway when we first got here. I’d been there before. Believe me, the new owner turned it into every demon’s wet dream. The smell of debauchery and sex so thick you can taste it.”
“Unfortunately, there is no fighting allowed in the club, so you’ll have to leave your weapons here if you want to come,” Elise informed, seeming to wait for us to back down.
I hesitated for a minute, but then answered her. “Fine. We can do that.” Ilooked over at Reese who had an even more skeptical look on his face, but he shrugged accepting whatever came next. His eyes glanced over at Dani and then at me, his face morphing into what looked like another fit of laughter, but he stopped himself. He would honestly never let me live that moment in my life down ever again. I had a feeling he liked Dani just a little more now, not that he’d openly admit it just yet.
“I’d keep your head on straight while you’re in that part of the area. The club is one thing but it’s open season for those bewitching type demons,” Garrett warned.
Beetee walked over and patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t scare them, Garrett. It’s not terrible and I know you’re strong and capable angels, but I would stick close to these two if you don’t want to get whisked away somewhere and end up in someone’s sex dungeon.”
“Some sex dungeons aren’t even that bad,” Reese said to no one in particular.
I gave him a bewildered expression. I knew a lot about my best friend, but I didn’t know everything. He tended to overshare, but there were some things that he didn’t, and when those things slipped out it always left me a little shell shocked.
Elise leaned over the table and picked up Axel. “Maybe you aren’t half bad, Blondie. Now I really do hope someone does whisk you away to their sex dungeon and denies you many orgasms.”
“I can have Leah make you a glamouring tonic that makes you not appear so…angelic,” Garrett offered.
“I’m sure we can blend in,” Reese said confidently.
“It’s not about that,” Dani said to him. “You both smell like Heaven’s Gate and angelic magic. You have an aura about you that just oozes white wings and rules.”
I looked up at Garrett, catching his golden eyes. “And she’ll be able to mask it?”
“She’ll be able to minimize it, so that you aren’t completely bombarded while you’re there. You are entering Leviathan at your own risk, so we can only do so much.”
“We appreciate whatever help you’ll give us,” I said, gratefully.
“I’ll go let her know. Just came down here for some glasses of water for Yuri and Jasmine,” he gave Dani a small nod, which she reciprocated. It was like an odd, tension filled understanding between them. He waved to the rest of us before heading into the kitchen.
Reese leaned back in his chair, letting the front two legs lift off the ground. “You coming too, reptile queen?”
Beetee giggled, shaking her head. “No, I’ll be sitting this one out.”
“Again?” I asked.
She opened her mouth to explain, but Elise beat her to it. “It’s not that she wants to sit it out, shehasto.” She pushed away from the table, her hellhound in her arms. “She isn’t allowed back there after she nearly tore the place apart.”
