Dani and the others were huddled in the dining room, each in their own respective chairs.
“Good of you guys to finally join us,” Elise greeted, sarcastically.
Axel darted across the room towards Reese, who caught him up in his arms, seeming to have a growing soft spot for the hellhound. Hescratched him behind the ears as he pulled out a chair and sat down. I took a seat across from Dani, who casually took a sip of her water, giving me a simple glance. Her tongue darted out and she licked her lips, before refocusing her attention. My cock twitched at the last thing I remembered that mouth doing. She had looked at me the entire time she swallowed my cock, trying to take it all in her mouth. If I had known she was just doing it to eventually end up leaving me without letting me finish, then I wouldn’t have given in to her so easily.
Beetee practically skipped over, placing a glass of water in front of me. I took it happily, drinking down half the contents. It still wasn’t enough to get the taste of her out of my mouth. Not that I was trying that hard, she tasted like a fucking dream. I would happily stay between her legs and give her as many orgasms as she could handle if that’s what she wanted. I prided myself on being the kind of guy that paid attention in bed and tried to give my partner the best experience. I was gathering that she liked certain words, certain phrases, but I’d have to test it out another time.
“So, we’ve been talking about what Natalia said,” Dani said, pushing her water to the side.
“And we’ve settled on someone to talk to,” Elise continued, narrowing her eyes at her pet, who was passing out in Reese’s arms. “For someone who has a chip on his shoulder about demons, you sure do look loved up with a hellhound.”
Reese rolled his eyes, giving her a middle finger as best he could. “He keeps coming up to me, alright. It’s not my fault that I’m naturally irresistible.”
Elise snorted as she laughed in disbelief.
“I can’t say I’m the happiest about the decision you’ve come to,” Beetee said, leaning against the wall.
“Your two cents have been heard Beetee, don’t worry. We aren’t going to listen but understand that we did hear you, so be happy for that.” Elise batted her eyelashes at her friend.
Beetee rolled her eyes, shaking her head.
“You guys are completely sure about this demon you’ve chosen?” I asked, looking from Elise to Dani.
“Completely sure isn’t the right way to put it. It’s kind of the only way to go,” Dani explained, chewing on her bottom lip.
I thought this over. “Okay, well, this is your area of expertise so there isn’t much we can say about it. When do we leave?”
Dani’s eyebrows raised as she flicked her eyes over to Elise who snorted. Elise scratched her temple. “Yeah, you aren’t coming.”
“Not coming?” Reese said before I could.
Elise gave him a one-shoulder shrug. “You aren’t needed. Pretty boy said it best, this is our area of expertise, so you two can hang out here and keep Beetee company.”
I ran a hand through my hair, frustrated. “You can’t just tell us we aren’t coming. That’s not your decision to make.”
“Telling me I can’t do something, just makes me want to do it more. As much as I don’t like the idea of seeking a demon's help, I don’t like you telling me no way more,” Reese shot back.
Dani laughed. “You don’t like the idea of seeking a demon's help, but you followed one into Purgatory.”
Reese sighed. “I followedhim, not you two.” He pointed at me, while Axel jumped up on the table and trotted around before curling up and making himself a centerpiece.
Elise gave me a look like she couldn’t care less how I felt. “You don’t have to like it to accept it, Nicholas.”
“I don’t accept it. We’re coming along. We’ve fought fucking hellhounds. I think we can handle a conversation with a demon.” This could be a huge step in the right direction, and I wasn’t going to miss it.
“I told you they would want to come,” Dani stated, swinging her index finger between the two of us.
Elise tapped her fingers against the wood of the dining table. I noticed demons and Enchanters passing by, poking their heads in, but quickly choosing not to interfere. Some of them made their way through the room in passing to head out the back doorway, but they didn’t pay us much mind. It was hard to believe that this much of a relaxed environment existed in the likes of Purgatory at all.
“They’ll never last in there,” Elise snarked, rolling her gray eyes.
“We’ll never last where? What are you guys even talking about?” I asked, looking from Dani to Elise.
Elise leaned over and rested her elbow on the table, placing her hand on her cheek, letting her palm gently hit her skin. A small devilish smile played on her lips. “A club, Nicholas. A place where people dance and drink.”
I mimicked her movements and leaned against the table myself. I was overly annoyed with the idea that they wanted to leave us behind. “I know what a club is, Elise. We can handle dancing and drinking.”
She hummed. “And of course, the occasional fucking.” She said it as if it was obvious, as if that sort of thing happened all the time.
