I snickered, walking to the window and pulling up the blinds. Light flooded the room. To anyone else, it would seem like a beautiful morning, but to Reese, it was pure venom. He shoved his face further into his pillow, muffling what I could only imagine were a slew of curse words.
“Let’s get up. Sometime today, please.”
“What time is it?” Reese asked, his voice raspy and sleep filled.
I looked at his clock. “Nine in the morning.”
“My fucking god. You know I’m allergic to any time before noon.”
I grabbed a chair and pulled it up to the bed. I plopped down, placing my elbows on my knees. “Oh really?”
Reese pulled a pillow from behind his head and pressed it onto his face, shielding himself from the sunlight. “Yeah, it's somewhere in my medical profile.”
I pretended to ponder his words. “You didn’t seem too allergic to early mornings when I saw you sprinting out of Tessa Yeal’s room naked at eight in the morning.”
Reese threw the pillow off his face and gave me a hard look. “Her boyfriend came back earlier than expected. Don’t act like you haven’t fucked around and been a little shit before.”
I shrugged, lifting my feet and resting them on the bed. “Yeah, well, I don’t go around fucking girls with boyfriends. I’ll leave that to you and your low standard dick.”
As the last words left my mouth, I saw more of the ceiling and then the other side of the room when Reese grabbed my ankles and tipped me over. I landed with a hard thud and a groan. He laughed, pushing the covers off his legs.
At least he had on boxers this time. Seeing Reese’s dick unannounced for the hundredth time was not what I had signed up for. He padded to the bathroom as I got up from the floor, rubbing my neck.
“I saw my father yesterday.”
“How is old Maurice?” Reese inquired from the bathroom.
“Doing alright. Almost had a fight. Spent all night telling him about training.”
Reese peeked out from around the open door. “Did you tell him I’m getting close to your level with a sword?”
“Yeah, I don’t like to lie to my dad.” I bite my bottom lip, watching as he scrunched his face with irritation. “I did have to omit some things to him.”
“Such as?” he asked, leaning against the door frame.
“Dani and Elise…”
His eyes widened. “They’re still here? What the hell?”
“I guess Jonah wants to keep them around.”
He ran an exasperated hand through his hair. “Can’t we put it to a vote?”
“You’re the only one with a problem,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.
Reese shook his head. “My problem is not withboth, it’s withone.”
“She seems…harmless.”
He took two long strides over to me and smacked my forehead. “Do you just stop listening when she speaks? Harmless is not the word I’d use. She’s like a damn piranha. If she could, I’m pretty sure she would have poofed me out of existence by now.”
“I guarantee plenty of angels would poof you out of existence if they could.”
Reese stuck his tongue behind his teeth and nodded. “Okay, Nick the Dick, valid point.”
“Can you please go take a shower, so we can get out of here?”
Reese pointed to the bruises on his body. “Can I get my bearings please? You should be happy I’m not traumatized from yesterday’s events.”
