CHAPTER FIFTEEN

GETTING ANSWERS

CATCH

Not having Bianca by my side during the war left fear swirling in my gut. This situation in Chicago revealed the lengths I’d go to protect my woman. By the time the guys and I returned to the warehouse, the girls were asleep. Leaning against the door frame, my eyes moved over Bianca’s body in the plush white robe. I noticed she wore the robe around the hotel day and night like it was her new favorite piece of clothing. Of course, she packed it and brought it with us. Once things died down, I’d pick up our personalized matching robes from a specialty shop in Schaumburg. Today was the first time I stepped foot in Bianca’s parents' house. Every room was tiny. How seven people maneuvered through the small space daily was beyond me. After calming her mother down, I walked around Bianca’s bedroom. Perfumes, hair care products, toiletries and books cluttered the oak wood dresser. She didn’t have a nightstand. There was a black side table sitting beside her bed. Rage slammed through my body as I yanked the closet door open. There were maybe twenty outfits hanging in the tiny space. Were these all the clothes she had? Rows of sneaker boxes were neatly stored floor to ceiling. Maybe shoes were herweakness. I didn’t know much about her because we recently met and I made her my woman. We were getting to know each other. Where she came from didn’t matter. Well, not to a man like me. If I were some stuck-up rich boy, I might’ve looked down my nose at her. My fingers curled around the white metal footboard that squeaked at the slightest touch. I hated she lived like this. Hated she didn’t have everything her heart desired.

“You don’t have to worry about grabbing things for Bianca,” her mother said, pulling me from my thoughts.

I tried mustering a smile, but my anger was eating at me from the inside out.

“Whatever she felt she needed was in her laptop bag when she left.”

My eyes narrowed. Was that true? Or was that just what Bianca told her mother, so she didn’t feel guilty about their sparse way of living.

A grin swept across my lips. “Mrs. Landry, I just wanted to see where my girlfriend slept.”

Her brows rose. “Girlfriend?”

“Yes, she’s my forever,” I stated. Confidence heavy in my tone.

“No offense Catch, but my daughter never had a boyfriend who lasted more than a month. What makes you think you’re different?”

“The way I see through her bull. The way she stares at me when she thinks I’m not paying attention. The way she fights me when I tell her she’s my forever.”

She arched a brow. “It doesn’t sound like she wants forever with you, Catch.”

“I promise she does. She understands we’re getting to know each other right now and that one day she’ll become my wife.”

She placed her hands on her hips. “Now Catch that just sounds downright crazy.”

I chuckled. “You’re right. It’s our kind of crazy. I love your daughter. And she loves me. You might not understand our love today, but one day you will. If your bags are ready to be loaded into the truck, I’ll get moving.”

She placed a hand up. “Do you know what my daughter and her friends do for a living on the low?”

Fear flickered in her eyes for a second.

“Yes.”

Mrs. Landry gasped. “She told you?”

“No, she didn’t. I watch people for a living. So I followed her.”

“You sound like a stalker.”
