“No,” she blurted out.
What was her problem?
My brows lowered. “You’re too pretty to have all that attitude.”
She released a long-exaggerated sigh. “Who’s asking?”
I ignored her question when I heard voices coming from deeper in the house. “Listen, it’s important I talk to her.”
CHAPTER TWO
THE DISPUTE
CATCH
“Idon’t think so,” she replied.
She rocked back on her leg, poked out her hip, crossing her arms over her chest. “What’s with all the white men in my friend’s life recently?”
I didn’t know how many men Tori was involved with. Guess I’d find out while I had her under surveillance.
We stared into each other’s eyes long and hard.
“Bombshell, can I speak to Tori?” I asked through bared teeth. I was two seconds away from clamping her mouth shut with mine.
“Still, the answer is no,” she responded in a bitter tone.
“You cannot see Tori,” the woman huffed.
I had reached my limit with the woman who had a chip on her shoulder the size of Chicago.
This was new. A woman who refused to give in to me.
Challenge accepted.
“Well then, Bombshell, I’ll wait here.”
“Stop calling me that,” she gritted out.
Since she wouldn’t cooperate, I figured I’d keep poking the bear.
“Whatever you say, gorgeous,” I chuckled.
I noticed her fists curled at her sides.
The door opened wider, and a woman appeared. “I’m Tori. Who wants to know?”
“Hello Tori. My name is Catch.”
Her eyes widened. “You work with Mr. R.”
“Sorry I mean Cliff. Instead of calling him Mr. Richards. I call him Mr. R.”
I smiled and nodded. “Got it. Cliff is actually my cousin.”
The bite size Terrier snarled at me like she was Tori’s protector.
“Come in.” Tori motioned for me to enter.
