I knew she envied my life. But I didn’t realize how much until we had to take her out.
“The things he provided for me were superficial. It was all about appearances. We hadn’t had sex in years. He would please me orally, but that was it.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You deprived him of sex. No wonder he was fucking me.”
I chuckled. “That doesn’t bother me. He was bisexual.”
She burst into a fit of laughter. “He couldn’t have been,” Tyra snapped angrily.
“Let’s see. He was fucking my cousin Reece for years. They were a couple, which is why Man-Man allowed me to see other men. However, he would always intervene and remove any man who wanted a relationship with me. He didn’t want anyone ruining our arrangement. He had to keep up the facade of being in a relationship with me. But you see, Cliff wasn’t for that bullshit. He wanted me so he took me.”
I got tingles up and down my spine just thinking about Ritchie.
She absentmindedly played with a long red curl on her perfectly styled lace front wig. I could see her wheels turning. “It’s too bad your muscle-bound Ken doll didn’t bite it in last week’s explosion.”
“Tori,” Ezra’s voice warned through my earpiece.
I felt myself inch toward her, ready to swing on her ass.
A sly grin spread across my face.
A smile curled my lips. “The way he fucked me this past weekend on our wedding night was fucking toe curling.” I ran my tongue over my lips, enjoying the reaction I was getting from her.
It was her turn to look as if she wanted to pounce on me.
“What else did you come to say to me...Tyra?” I said her name through gritted teeth.
“You threw me off a boat and left me for dead. The revenge I have planned for you and our other so-called best friends willbe...” Her smile turned sinister. “...will be brain crushing,” she chuckled.
“Yeah, I see different parts...” My eyes moved up and down her frame, letting her know I was talking about her body parts without incriminating myself. “... taking a trip to the bottom of the ocean by way of cinder blocks.” I threw my head back laughing.
“You grimy hood rat bitch,” she snarled, stalking closer with venom in her voice.
“Brennen, send it up in flames now,” she demanded.
My heart pounded painfully against my ribs as an icy chill shot down my spine.
Fuck! My mind screamed, panic seizing me in its iron grip.
This bitch was planning to blow up the entire hotel, and I was trapped with nowhere to escape.
CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
TORI
THE FIGHT TO SURVIVE
One minute I stood in front of a seething Tyra who bolted along with the guy holding the detonator. The next Ezra snatched me off my feet and carried me like a rag doll, his heart pounding against my back as he sprinted towards the double doors. Without warning, we crashed to the ground, my bones rattling with the impact. The pain was excruciating. I could feel my previous injuries throbbing beneath the surface from last week’s explosion.
In the blink of an eye, chaos erupted. The ground trembled beneath us as a deafening explosion ripped through the air. We hurtled backwards, crashing into the glass door and shattering it to pieces. Despite his own injuries, Ezra stayed protectively draped over me as we were pelted by shards of broken glass. The screams of terrified guests blended with the cacophony of destruction around us.
That crazy bitch blew up the hotel. My safe place. I can’t wait to kill her.
The sound of my name echoed faintly in my ears amidst the deafening ringing caused by the explosion.
Ezra sprang into action, drawing his Glock. Brock ran towards us, pointing across the parking lot. My eyes followed his pointed finger and landed on a scene of destruction. The SUV we had been driving in was now a smoldering wreck of flames and black smoke rising to the sky.
With the help of Ezra and Brock, I managed to stand on trembling legs, covered in shards of glass from head to toe.
