Chapter Sixteen

Allison

“I’m going to go to the steam room,” I announced.

“Sure. Want to go alone, or do you want me to join you?”

Oh, yes. Please join me and rip off my tiny bikini. Drop your boxers and let’s do it.

There was no way I could say no. And truth be told, I did want to be around Nick. I liked talking to him. I likedhim. But I wanted to stop being so attracted to him. It was going to make things more complicated.

“Sure. I’d feel weird in there all by myself.”

“All right, then.”

After another quick shower, we headed to the steam room. It smelled amazing, like lemongrass. The steam was already very thick.

I sat on one bench, Nick on the other. There was enough distance between us that I felt as if I was practically alone, but knowing he was there also gave me some comfort.

I quickly discovered another perk: it had lots and lots of marvelous steam, which meant eye contact wasn’t always possible. I could stare at this fine specimen of a man to my heart’s content.Oh yeah.

He was sitting with one foot up on the bench, slightly lopsided, resting on one palm. Even his calves were nothing but muscles. He was truly the most handsome man I’d ever met.

When I tore my gaze away to check if the steam was still covering our eye contact, I swallowed hard. It definitely wasn’t. Nick’s smirk told me that he’d watched me for a while.

“By all means, take your fill, Allison.”

“Hmm?”

“Would you like me to move closer to you so you have a better view?”

What was I supposed to do now, play it cool or deny everything? No, there was no point denying it. I’d been far too obvious.

“Nick...,” I whispered.

“We can pretend it’s not happening.”

“Oh, look at your smirk. You totally don’t want to let it go.”

“No, sorry. I’m enjoying it too much. You were really smart about it, waiting for the steam.”

I gasped. “Sorry you caught on.”

Nick laughed, and his entire chest shook. That only highlighted his abs even more.Oh, yum.

“I only caught on because I was doing the same.”

My entire body tightened. He’d been checking me out. How on earth did I not realize that?

“It’s not the first time I’ve done it either,” he continued as if he’d read my mind.

“Wh-What?” I stammered. “I didn’t notice before.”
