Twelve Hours Earlier
I could barely breathe.
My heart was in my chest constantly as I tried to walk off my frustration. She was gone, no one could find her. An ache so deep reverberated in my chest as I thought of all the things that could be happening to her right now and I wasn’t there to protect her, to keep her safe.
I swivelled around when I felt a hand on my shoulder, ready to punch. Hawk ducked just as I swung and missed, stumbling away. Hawk grabbed me before I lost my balance and made sure I stayed upright.
“What the fuck?” I grunted out.
“Percy is on the phone,” he said, pushing the phone into my hand. I looked down at it before I put it to my ear.
“Yeah.”
“I found her,” he said. Relief flooded through my body, making it hard to stay upright, especially given how much Jack Daniels I’d ingested recently.
“What?”
“I bought her off the fucker,” he said. “She’s being delivered tomorrow morning at the dock.”
Jesus.
“Thank you, Percy. I’ll pay you back for everything you paid.”
“Fuck off,” he said. “It’s not about money, but I do want to take this fuckhead down. I have an idea, but I need to bring your guys in.”
“Name it.”
He told me his plan and immediately I was in. I’d get her back and Neal would be taken care of, one less fucking prick for Percy to have to deal with.
“You got it,” I told him when he finished. “I’ll bring them up to speed. I’ll see you at the dock tomorrow.”
I hung up and handed the phone back to Hawk, who hadn’t strayed too far away.
“What’s the deal?”
“He got her, and we have a way to get Neal taken care of so he leaves them all alone.”
Hawk nodded. “When?”
“Tomorrow.”
“That’s not a lot of time to prepare,” he mentioned.
“We don’t have time. This is it.”
“All right, brother,” he said. “Let’s go inside and let them know what we’re doing.”
SHERIDAN
I looked all around us as I recognised the familiar ghost logo on the back of the cuts. It was them.
The Ghost Rebels.
They were here.
They found me.
