Getting into the car, I nodded to Caelan and peeled out of the garage, heading for Sydney. Presley, I’m comin’ for ya, baby.
Chapter Two
Lennon
Ten years ago
The bag was lifted from my head and I was forced to my knees on the cold marble floor of the nightclub Gideon owned,Inferno. It was cold where we were, the club empty for the first time ever. I was so cold that I could feel my nipples harden under my shirt.
This wasn’t good.
I’d been on the other side of this position before and it always ended with a bullet between the eyes or a vicious beating.
“Lennon.”
“Yes?”
“Do you know why you’re here?” Gideon asked me, sitting on a circular chair, one that was used for comfort.
“Nope.”
“You’re convicted of betraying the organization.”
“What?”
I turned to look around at who was around me, who could have fucked me over, but they all had blank faces. Gideon was emotionless, but I could tell he had been having a hard time lately. The grey in his hair becoming thicker and thicker. He was in over his head and I knew it, so did a lot of us. I knew the reason this was happening. I was in love with his daughter. I wanted to run away with her and give her everything she wanted.
Gideon had found out somehow and now he’ll teach me a lesson.
“Where is she?” I asked.
That question earned me a knock to the back of the head with the butt of the gun by Tannis.
I turned to look up at him, that goddamn cocky grin on his face had me screwing my fists together. I felt the ropes around my wrists chafing my skin as I tried to keep calm.
“What do you have to say for yourself?” Gideon asked me.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Have you or have you not been trying to whisk my daughter away in the middle of the night?” Gideon asked, his frustration growing.
“She deserves more than this.”
“She was born a Witt, she was born for this.”
There was no talking him out of whatever delusion he was living in. I stayed quiet until he rose from his seat.
“Presley.”
I turned my head at the sound of her name and saw her standing behind me, her eyes red and puffy. If they’d hurt her, I would murder every single one of them.
She moved forward but she wouldn’t look at me. “Father.”
“Presley, tell me again what this piece of shit was going to do to you?”
I saw her tremble. “Father…”
“Presley, he can’t hurt you now, look at him…”
