“What the hell? What about the smoke?”
“We haven’t smoked your room in a month,” she said. “This is normal, we’re trying to help your system withdraw from the hallucinogens. It will take time.”
“Why are you helping me?” I asked her, angrily. “Why won’t you kill me!”
“Because York sees potential in you and frankly, so do I. When you’re feeling better, maybe we can sit down and talk about what you want. What you really want.”
“I want to die.”
“No, honey,” she said, smoothing the hair behind my ear. “You want more, you just can’t see it yet.”
I was so confused. She was meant to be tormenting me, like she had done for the past five years.
“What do you want?” she asked me again, only this time there was no malice behind it. “What do you need?”
I thought of Lennon, of all the horrible things that had probably been done to him, of him dying, and I hated everyone. I hated everything.
I hated Gideon. I wanted him to burn in hell. That was when I felt it, the ever-knowing urge to kill. I wanted to murder my own father. I looked up into her eyes with intent.
“Revenge.”
Ebony smiled. “Now, that we can help you with. Get some rest. Tomorrow we’ll start preparing you.”
Presley
Current Day
I screamed as Lennon pushed me to my climax in the back of the car. For years I thought him dead, and that had been the catalyst to be this person.
Now, I had it all, everything and Lennon was still trying to have my back. I’d fucking shot him in the shoulder and he was still hellbent on making me happy.
But I couldn’t be the girl he fell in love with anymore, I just wasn’t that sunshine and rainbow girl. He needed to know I would never be her again.
“We should go,” he said, cleaning off his mouth. “Sonora is out there, and she’s probably getting ready to turn on you for killing Deacon.”
“You’re right,” I said, sitting up. “Hadrian, go to the prison and get Chance out. I think the warden will be more understanding after that ruling. I want to go and see Jett, Ebony and York off.”
“I’ll drive.”
Lennon got in the front seat and sped off to the airport. I’d almost forgotten everything I’d been taught because my own personal life had completely toppled me over the edge.
But I was the queen now, theQueenpin, and Sydney was mine.
Lennon
I watched as Presley said goodbye to Ebony, Jett and York at the private plane. They weren’t emotional, rather it looked more like a business transaction but I could tell she was saddened by it in her own way. I kept an eye on everything around us, making sure there were no ambushes. Sonora was a resourceful woman, and I knew she would have it out for Presley and Jett now that he’s allied himself to Presley.
The three boarded their plane while Presley headed my way. She looked amazing, that black dress she wore clung to every inch of her body, no room for imagination and who needed it with a body like hers?
She got in and I took off back to the chateau. “We need to figure out how to stop Sonora.”
“We also need to find Hendrix and his tramp,” I said. “Rudie will do anything for Hendrix.”
Presley sighed. “One at a time, Len.”
“Pres, how can you be so calm?”
“Worrying never did any good, did it?”
